Could this be risky from Newcastle? They were in the ascendency but have dropped back after equalising and Liverpool are putting the pressure on.

Fifteen minutes is a long time to hold on for a point.

It's fair to say the Aston Villa fans are a bit miffed with the goings on at their club and today's scoreline hasn't helped. They are holding up cards expressing their feelings at the moment as Villa look destined for yet another home defeat.

"This time it's not Mignolet's fault. Colback gets good contact and it does hit Lovren's foot on its way in, wrong-footing the keeper.

"This is exactly what they did against Manchester City. After what I'm seeing here I wouldn't be surprised if Newcastle went on to win the game - they've been transformed!"

York City are heading out of the Football League.

There's around 20 minutes remaining in their game at high-flying Accrington and the basement division's next-to-bottom club trail 2-0.

Accrington are currently second in the 'as it stands' table.

Shane Long and Dusan Tadic are having a field day with this Aston Villa defence. The two combine with the latter firing into the bottom corner from just outside the box.

    Willian (71)

Chelsea needed this. There was always the sense Bournemouth were capable of doing a Newcastle and equalising but Willian has made life easier for the Blues with a neat chip.

Who got the assist? Cesc Fabregas.

    On. Fire.

How about this for a Championship fixture next season: Burton Albion v Aston Villa.

It's looking more and more likely as Burton, a non-League club in 2009, are 3-0 up at struggling Colchester, who are heading for League Two.

Bradford, chasing a place in the play-offs, are 2-0 up over third-placed Walsall, while leaders Wigan lead Southend 4-0.

    Jack Colback (66 mins)

Wow! Where did this come from?

Newcastle were not in this game at all in the first half but it's a different side that emerged for the second half and they are now level. Andros Townsend's cross is headed away only as far as Jack Colback, who races into the area to drive home with a little help from a deflection off Dejan Lovren.

    Bournemouth 1-2 Chelsea

How's the John Mikel Obi in the centre of defence experiment going for Chelsea? I wouldn't say a long and successful future in the position beckons, he's looked a little uncomfortable at times, but he's just produced a smart block to cut out a dangerous Bournemouth cross.

All Southampton at the moment as Jay Rodriguez has a go from 25 yards, but it is right down Brad Guzan's throat.

MK Dons are around half an hour from being relegated to League One. Lasse Vibe has given Brentford a 2-1 lead at Stadium MK.

At the other end of the table, Middlesbrough are still being held 0-0 at home to Ipswich, while Brighton lead 1-0 at Charlton, where play has just got back under way after being stopped as a number of objects were thrown onto the pitch.

    Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

Liverpool build another attack as James Milner lifts the ball into the area, Joe Allen rises and flicks a header goalwards, Karl Darlow paws the ball into the path of Roberto Firmino, who fumbles home but he is offside.

A little wag of the finger by Firmino. He's having none of that.

    He definitely was offside.

    Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Spurs & England midfielder on Final Score

"Newcastle have come out a completely different side. If Cisse gets his touch right he gets a shot on goal.

"But it was definitely a penalty for Tiote's foul on Sturridge just moments before. Tiote just hung his leg out - it gives Sturridge every right to go over it. I think the referee's missed one there."

    Aston Villa 1-2 Southampton

Jay Rodriguez is a whisker away from scoring his first Premier League goal in two years as he snaps at a cutback but Joleon Lescott deflects the ball just wide of the post.

Moments later, Brad Guzan saves well from Shane Long.

  20. CLOSE!published at 16:12 British Summer Time 23 April 2016

    Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

    End-to-end at Anfield now.

Liverpool have a penalty appeal waved away as Daniel Sturridge goes down under a Cheick Tiote challenge. Newcastle then break and Papiss Cisse turns Alberto Moreno just inside the area, manages to stab the ball to Andros Townsend, but he balloons his shot over.
