First goal of the night in the Championship and it's a 21st league goal of the season for Ross McCormack, who rounds keeper Anders Lindegaard to put Fulham 1-0 ahead against Preston.

Relegation-threatened Fulham need a victory but Preston are unbeaten at home since January.

Elsewhere, MK Dons are 1-0 ahead against Wolves thanks to Nicky Maynard's opener

    Barcelona 0-0 Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid's defensive play is hugely engaging - they actively funnel the Barca runners into cul-de-sacs and then ambush them. At the other end, Fernando Torres loses the ball cheaply twice in quick succession. When you only get 20% of the ball you can't be doing that.

Lionel Messi has his first effort of the night, pulling a shot wide under pressure from 20-odd yards. Great pressing from Atleti so far, pushing the yellow shirts away from goal whenever they can.

Franck Ribery has missed a lot of football over the last year or two but he's shining like the star he is in these early stages, out on the left flank. He has the licence to roam though, and he is doing. Pep Guardiola had said in the build-up to tonight's game that Benfica have the best defence in Europe. He punctured it inside 100 seconds...

    Barcelona 0-0 Atletico Madrid

Lionel Messi spreads the play out of the middle with a lovely ball out wide - Atletico have everyone back and everyone narrow too. They let you have it out wide. Wonderfully drilled.

Wow! We've not even kicked off in Barcelona and Bayern Munich are ahead. Left-back Juan Bernat whips it in and Arturo Vidal heads home at the back stick.

Benfica coach Rui Vitoria has spent weeks on that gameplan. RIP IT UP AND START AGAIN...

  9. The last team to retain it...published at 19:45 British Summer Time 5 April 2016

The last team to win the European Cup two years in a row were the great AC Milan side of 1989 and 1990.

What a team - Baresi, Costacurta, Maldini, Donadoni, Rijkaard, Ancelotti, Gullit, Van Basten. Over 25 years on and at least eight of the XI remain household names.

You could maybe say the same about this Barca team too.

Would these be good enough in their prime to get into the Barca team?

    How would you improve Barca?

Dan Jones: do Messi, Suarez & Neymar need competition? Aguero is probably the only one who could dismantle that front 3!

Mo: Coutinho to replace Iniesta as they are exactly the same kind of player and Hummels to partner Pique.

Kiriama16: It will kill me but Ozil playing behind Suarez, with Messi and Neymar out wide will be something special

Both teams tonight will be wearing their away kits, much to the annoyance of many of you I am sure. Here's the reason why:

"In an effort to improve visibility and clearly differentiate the teams for both referees and spectators, Uefa requested that FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid wear their second kits for both games of their upcoming Champions League quarter-final tie. Barça, thus, will be wearing their red and gold 'Senyera' kit, while Atlético will be sporting dark blue."

A great quote on BT Sport from Barcelona defender Gerard Pique: "Messi is not human, but Ronaldo is the best of the humans!"

The best of the humans. Most people would be happy with that. Most.

How can Barcelona improve? [not every signing has to come from the Premier League lads...]

Don Bellucci: Mahrez to come in for Iniesta and Zouma or Stone to come in as a natural defender for makeshift Mascherano

Josh Cole: They'll eventually sign ex-youth player Hector Bellerin as a long term replacement for Dani Alves

Speed_Rus: Barcelona should buy Harry Kane.

Rangers can secure promotion by winning against Dumbarton tonight.

One more victory will secure the Scottish Championship title for Mark Warburton's side.

What can Barcelona do to improve? Signing David de Gea would put Real Madrid's noses out of joint...

Josh Bartholomew: Hummels to partner Pique at CB, De Gea to replace Bravo in goal.

Ralph: A strong midfielder who can shoot from distance and win headers as well as a young centre back

Charlie Kichenside: A defensive midfielder that they can bring on to seal the game like Casemiro did for Real Madrid

Bolton are almost down and defeat at Brentford tonight, coupled with a Fulham win at Preston, would leave them all but relegated.

Charlton already have a six-point gap to fret about and need a result at Ipswich, while MK Dons complete the bottom three and host Wolves.
