    Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Liverpool

Dortmund take the sting out of Liverpool with a period of possession, passing squarely across midfield in search of an opening. Liverpool are disciplined, though, and when the shot does come it is from distance from Nuri Sahin and easily saved by Simon Mignolet.

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 52 mins

    Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Liverpool

Roman Weidenfeller is like a brick wall! Liverpool respond really well to Dortmund's goal with a concerted period of pressure that produces a couple of really good chances. Philippe Coutinho has the best of them with two bites of the cherry in the box, his second opportunity a clear shot from 15 yards, but the big home keeper sticks one hand out to save superbly.

"Mats Hummels jumped above Lallana but Lallana was not due to pick him up. I think it should have been Origi and it was the simplest of headers. It is such a poor goal for Liverpool to concede and now it is going to be very interesting."

Terrible goal for Liverpool to concede. Dortmund win a corner, which is taken short and whipped in by Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Mats Hummels, who rises above his marker - who for some reason is Adam Lallana - way too easily to power a header home.

Three minutes is all it takes for the German side to break through.

It is all going to plan for Liverpool at the moment. The players are back out. Can the Reds see this out? They are going to be forced into a change, though. Jordan Henderson's injury has seemingly ended his night. Joe Allen replaces him.

Dortmund also make a change as Erik Durm departs to be replaced by former Liverpool midfielder Nuri Sahin.

Ash: That has just justified Origi over Sturridge. Pace against this defence. He really should've finished that though.Should be 2-0

ZyZzyX: I hope Liverpool aren't planning on sitting back all game and inviting pressure. We won't handle it for another 45 mins

    Frantic end to the half.

However, Liverpool lead at the break. And they will be extremely happy, not only with that but also that Dortmund have not run amok. It has been a classic counter-attacking display. Advantage Jurgen Klopp.

"As well as Origi did for the goal, he should have done better there. He almost was not quite sure what to do. He needs a few chances to score the goals."

Huge opportunity for Divock Origi at the end of the half!

The striker holds his run to collect a pass forward and run clear of the home defence. He hesitates, though, allowing Roman Weidenfeller to come out and block.

The keeper is furious - presumably as he thought the Reds striker was offside - and gets a booking for his protests.

Two of the four added minutes are up. Liverpool holding on.

Dejan Lovren comes to his side's rescue with a sliding block to prevent Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring at the back post.

Paul Walmsley: Liverpool attempting a Leicester: let the opposition have the ball then hammer them on the break.

Phil Delves: Now hopefully Origi wasn't taking tips from Torres this week...
