Bevo isn't wrong. The atmosphere is buzzing at the Etihad Stadium as the players stroll out to huge applause, lots of blue and white ticker tape in the air.

Cheers turn to boos though as the Champions League anthem is played.

"Loudest cheer from the City fans when their team was read out by the stadium announcer? That was for Sergio Aguero, unsurprisingly given the number of vital goals he has scored for the club. Another couple tonight would be much appreciated, I'm sure.

"The home supporters had turned up the volume in the last few minutes in any case, and they have also been waving those thousands of flags that were left on their seats - good to see they did not go to waste. Just time for them to boo the Champions League anthem (probably) and we will be under way."

"The Champions League is the ultimate prize in club football across the world. The South Americans will look at the Champions League and think, 'we wish we could compete with that'.

"Before this season, City have not done anything in the competition. Now is a good chance to reach he semi-finals. If Wolfsburg go through and draw them in the last-four, they will be favourites to go through.

"When the owners came in, they will have wanted to conquer Europe."

  4. 'We need to think like a big team'published at 19:38 British Summer Time 12 April 2016

Man City v PSG (19:45 BST)

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini speaking to BT Sport: "It will be a very big achievement because one of targets of club is to progress in the Champions League. I hope when we finish we can be in the semi-final knowing we played a very good team with very good players.

"Yaya Toure is fit but he worked just one or two days before the game against West Brom. He is not 100% and cannot play 90 minutes. I think it is better to keep Yaya if we need to attack later in the game.

"We must be very careful because they have very good players. The most important thing is to think as a big team and play like a big team.

"PSG must feel they are playing away and our team must feel like they have the support of the crowd."

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Former Manchester City striker Shaun Goater: "You need luck to win trophies, the odd decision to go your way, especially in the Champions League. Barcelona and Bayern Munich get that when they win it.

"The game will be won or lost on the attacks. Is City's more hungry and clinical than PSG's? Their front three is frightening. Both defences have question marks.

"I would feel there is a chance playing against Nicolas Otamenti and Eliaquim Mangala."

No flags supplied for the travelling PSG fans but they have brought plenty of their own, and they are also making a lot of noise - all three tiers of their section are already almost full and, after a series of songs, they drowned out the home fans' applause with whistles when City's players jogged out to warm up. In fairness, not many City fans are in their seats yet.

There's one game in the Scottish Premiership tonight as Inverness CT host Hearts and a draw for the latter will be enough for them to secure European football for next season.

In the Scottish Championship, Dumbarton host Queen of the South and Falkirk are at Hibernian.

Manchester City have gone all out in an effort to get fans excited about tonight's game, including attempting to liven up commuters' mundane tram journeys by getting the players to record announcements.

Love to know what went through Bacary Sagna's head when he was told to say "you are now arriving at Oldham Mumps"...

BBC Sport's Mike Minay: "Almost exactly eight years ago, Manchester City had a home quarter-final second leg against Hamburg with a prospect of a European semi-final, albeit the now Europa League. They were 3-1 down from the first leg, a little different to tonight, but it was the atmosphere in a sell-out Etihad that lives long in the memory. That night they won 2-1; City hit the crossbar, the post and missed from two yards out and sadly crashed out. But a similar spirited performance, where every player gave his all, could see the Etihad rocking and a chance to beat their own progress records and move into the Champions League semi-finals."

  14. Football League previewpublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 12 April 2016

We are very much in the business end of the domestic season and there's all to play for at the top of the Championship.

With five games left, just two points separate the top three and Middlesbrough can move above current leaders Burnley by beating Reading tonight.

Elsewhere, Birmingham's play-offs hopes are slipping away but they can stay in the hunt if they pick up three points at home to Leeds. Birmingham are currently nine points off sixth, but with a game in hand over their rivals.

In League One, automatic promotion hopefuls Gillingham and Walsall square off at Priestfield. A win for either side means they will move to within five points of second-place Burton. Seventh-placed Barnsley, meanwhile, host Oldham.

Finally, in League Two, Dagenham & Redbridge will look to keep their slim hopes of survival going when they travel to Luton, while Notts County host Hartlepool in the other fixture in the league.

One change for Real Madrid from the first leg in Germany last week.

The 10-time champions of Europe need goals and there is no surprise that their prolific forward line of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema all start.

The one change is at the back as Dani Carvajal comes in for Danilo.

Real Madrid XI: Navas, Carvajal, Ramos, Pepe, Marcelo, Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Bale, Benzema, Ronaldo.

Wolfsburg, unsurprisingly, are unchanged from the side that sent shockwaves across Europe by defeating Real 2-0 in the first leg. Former Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle starts.

Wolfsburg XI: Benaglio, Vieirinha, Naldo, Dante, Rodriguez; Guilavogui, Gustavo, Henrique, Arnold, Draxler; Schurrle.

"Marquinos and Serge Aurier will line up either side of Thiago Silva at the back, with Van der Wiel and Maxwell offering width and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani up front."

"Yaya Toure has recovered from a knee injury but only makes the bench for Manchester City, who are unchanged from the side that drew the first leg 2-2 in Paris last week.

"Fernando and Fernandinho play in the centre of midfield and Nicolas Otamendi - who has overcome an ankle injury - and Eliaquim Mangala are at the heart of City's defence."

City's starting XI: Hart, Sagna, Otamendi, Mangala, Clichy, Fernando, Fernandinho, Navas, De Bruyne, Silva, Aguero
