Manuel Pellegrini won't mind if he hears home fans booing tonight.

Jeers have often been heard when the Champions League anthem has been played before kick-off in Manchester City's home games in Europe this season, with not all fans said to be happy, external with how they perceived they and the club had been treated by Uefa.

Asked if the fans should give it a rest tonight, Pellegrini said: “It depends if you are superstitious. If you are superstitious we continue winning if they boo the anthem!”

"The majority of fans waiting outside Etihad Stadium for the teams to arrive are hoping to see City make comfortable progress but most of them will know their side rarely make things easy for themselves here in the Champions League.

"From 18 home matches in group games or knock-out ties since 2011, they have a paltry seven wins, and even fewer of those successes could be remotely described as comfortable.

"Three came thanks to injury-time winners (against Villarreal in 2011, Bayern Munich in 2014 and Sevilla in October) and another two arrived only thanks to two or more goals in the last 12 minutes (against Viktoria Plzen in 2013 and Borussia Monchengladbach in December).

"Only two of their victories came after City held a half-time lead – the first against a shadow Munich side who were already guaranteed group winners in 2011.The other is the only occasion City have managed a straightforward home win against full-strength opposition – November 2013, when they beat CSKA Moscow 5-2.

"So, all things considered, it is definitely good news that City can go through without winning tonight. Any draw with a scoreline lower than 2-2 will do the trick."

"City know they can win anything in England and now it is a step up. It is difficult to do.

"They have to be on the front foot, that is the best way to play PSG. If they sit back, they are asking for trouble.

"PSG like teams to sit back and when they dominate possession, that is what happens in France, week in and week out. They are not the best team in defence.

"The Paris fans are up for it, this is a big game for them, they love it. English fans don't buy on aboard about Europe than those on the continent. It doesn't seem the same."

"If you have not seen this image already, you have not used social media much this week, or been out in Manchester city centre.

"Aguero v Zlatan - a kind of A-Z of superstar strikers, with the aim of selling tickets - has been plastered across Twitter and on giant billboards around Piccadilly Gardens. It was designed by Manchester illustrator and City fan Dave Merrell and describes tonight’s game as “unmissable”.

"It seems City fans agree - tonight’s game is a sell-out of just over 53,000, a record for a European game at Etihad Stadium that beats the 50,363 that watched City kick off this season's Champions League campaign with a 2-1 defeat against Juventus."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic reckons he is only getting better as he gets older, so which other footballers, like wine, improved with age?

I'll kick things off with Andrea Pirlo. If only to be able to include a picture of him checking out the bouquet of a glass of red. What a man.

Know the story of Benjamin Button? The chap who was born old and died young. A curious case indeed. Anyway, Zlatan Ibrahimovic thinks he is the football equivalent of that tale.

He is 34 (as I turn 33 tomorrow, that is NOT old) but is banging in the goals like he is in the prime of his career.

"I have never been better," he said. "The way I feel today is the best I have ever been. I was born old and I will die young. That is how it looks.

"Age is just a number. You are as young as you think you are in your head. Your head decides how young you are and how old you are. So this year I decided I am very young."

The teams are in and Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has kept faith with the same team that drew 2-2 at PSG. That means Yaya Toure is on the bench, with Kevin de Bruyne in the hole behind Sergio Aguero.

Going on the attack is all well and good but Manchester City's defence need to bring their A-game. They have struggled to keep clean sheets in Europe.

It's advantage Manchester City after the first leg, which ended in a 2-2 draw in Paris. That means a 0-0 or 1-1 draw, or any victory, will be enough to see Manuel Pellegrini's side through.

Playing for a draw against a side that contains the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani and Angel di Maria is risky business, as Pellegrini well knows.

"We are a team that is prepared to score goals," he said. "If we prepare to play 0-0 I think we lose. You see the same team you see the last two and a half seasons."

No messing about from Zinedine Zidane as he makes just the one change from the first leg - Dani Carvajal comes in for Danilo.

Gareth Bale, rested at the weekend, takes his place in the first XI.

Real Madrid XI: Navas; Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo; Casemiro, Modric, Kroos; Bale, Ronaldo, Benzema.

Manchester City's struggles to sell out the Etihad Stadium are well documented. Champions League football on a cold Manchester midweek night has proven to be a particularly tough sell.

Tonight, though, will be different. The prospect of making history, and the chance to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic and co in action means the stadium is set to look a lot less like this...
