Things might not be going to plan for Bayern so far but there's some pretty decent options sitting on that bench. 

Who will Pep turn to first? Thomas Muller? Mario Gotze? Sven Ulreich? 

Maybe not Sven Ulreich.

Bayern Munich are learning what plenty of sides before them have found out - Atletico build a red-and-white wall that is difficult to get past. Helles Mammut: To have a chance against Atletico you don't have to play football, you have to work football.

Nick Jepson: Simeone and Atletico are kryptonite to the tiki-taka supermen of Barca and Bayern.

How do the Atletico players have the energy? Moments after being in the Bayern box for a corner, Antoine Griezmann is back defending to clear Philipp Lahm's cross.

A lovely move by Atletico ends with Koke's inventive flick being poked behind. The corner, though, doesn't match that move as it is headed away.

Robert Lewandowski has had one touch inside the Atletico box. One touch. He's getting no service, but that's because Atletico are not allowing him to get any.

Every Atletico player is back in their own half when Bayern have the ball but as soon as the home side get it back they attack in numbers. Saul Niguez is off again and jinking past Bayern players until he is brought down by Douglas Costa on the right, midway inside the Bayern half. Booking for Costa.

Tony Cocozza, Lisbon: Simeone is proving yet again what a great manager he is. Yet he doesn't get half the plaudits Guardiola gets.

Stefan Savic hardly tore up the Premier League during his brief spell at Manchester City. But it turns out he has been a lucky charm for Atletico since arriving from Fiorentina last summer. So far so good in this game...

Anthony Muindi: Atletico make defending look beautiful.

Just the one shot on target for Bayern compared to four for Atletico. Will Pep Guardiola be tempted to mix things up if things stay the same until half-time? It's not quite happened for them so far. Atletico are doing a sterling job of keeping Bayern's attack on a leash as well as keeping the German side's defence honest.

A rare counter from Bayern as Kingsley Coman speeds into the area from the right but his low cross is too close to Jan Oblak. 

Bayern's attack is a bit like a bear. Imposing, but quite lumbering. In contrast, there's a bit more zip about Atletico as once again they break at pace with Antoine Griezmann getting into the area but scuffs his shot and Manuel Neuer is able to stab behind.

Atletico have made 82 passes so far tonight. That's about two and a half a minute.

Bayern? 246. 

Pass, pass, pass. The Bayern mantra is being heard loud and clear at the Vicente Calderon. But they can't break down Atleti's rigid defensive shape. Only one shot on target so far for the German giants.
