Pep Guardiola won the Champions League twice at Barcelona but has yet to win it at Bayern Munich

Pep Guardiola collects trophies like they are stamps (or Pogs, the last thing I ever collected) but there's no doubt he'll be particularly desperate to bag this year's Champions League.

In his three years at Bayern, he has never won Europe's premier competition, crashing out at the semi-final stage in each of the last two seasons.

You could even say his whole legacy in Germany rests on these two games against Atletico.

Exit at this stage again, and it will be a significant blot on his copybook before he departs for Manchester City.

Is there anywhere in the world where half-and-half scarves are not on sale for a game of football? They are everywhere.

For Bayern, back come the big names. Captain Philipp Lahm, Xabi Alonso and David Alaba are among six changes from the weekend win at Hertha Berlin. Thomas Muller, rather surprisingly, starts on the bench. Germany defender Jerome Boateng travelled to the Spanish capital following a three-month absence with a groin injury, but misses out on the matchday squad.

Bayern XI: Neuer, Lahm, Martínez, Alaba, Bernat, Alonso, Vidal, Thiago Alcantara, Coman, Costa, Lewandowski.

Diego Simeone is not a man who likes to chop and change his side, so it is no surprise that there only two tweaks for Atletico. Argentina midfielder Augusto Fernandez replaces Belgium winger Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, who misses out with an ankle injury. At the back, former Manchester City defender Stefan Savic replaces Lucas Hernandez in the absence of key centre-back Diego Godin.

Atletico XI: Oblak, Juanfran, Gimenez, Savic, Filipe Luis, Saul, Gabi, Koke, Augusto, Griezmann, Torres.

Atletico Madrid may never have experienced winning Europe's biggest trophy, but under Diego Simeone they are undoubtedly getting closer to that elusive prize.

The Spanish side have now reached the Champions League semi-finals in two of the past three seasons. They reached the final in 2014, only to lose to city rivals Real.

They'll know that if they beat Bayern tonight then they will take a big step towards finally ending 41 years of hurt.

  10. Revenge on the mind?published at 18:45

They say that revenge is a dish best served cold.

If that is the case, then Atletico Madrid's desire for revenge over Bayern Munich will not just be a dish that has gone cold, but has long since moulded over and possibly developed into a new form of life.

For it was back in 1974 that Atletico came agonisingly close to winning a first European trophy, only to be denied by Bayern.

Since then, the German club have been champions of Europe on four occasions. Atletico? Never.

Could this finally be their year?
