If Villarreal do score, you sense Bruno will be heavily involved in it. He picks out Mario Gaspar on the right, his cross is cut out by Kolo Toure but the full back has another bite of the cherry only to see his shot deflected behind.

The internet seems to be getting pretty excited by the fact we have a palindromic hashtag. Certainly more excited than it is about this game anyway. It is all a bit cagey on the pitch at the moment.

It feels like Villarreal have had more of the possession but in fact Liverpool have shaded that with 54%. They've not really troubled the home defence since that early Joe Allen effort, but Jurgen Klopp will be happy with things so far.

After a minute or two, Jonathan dos Santos is up and good to continue. 

Once again Villarreal are on the attack as Roberto Saldado tries to clip the ball over a retreating Liverpool defence, but the visitors are able to deal with the ball before a yellow shirt picks it up.

A brilliant cross-field ball by Victor Ruiz picks out Jonathan dos Santos on the far right but he is clattered as he attempts to bring the ball under control and there is a break in play as he receives treatment.

Interesting hairstyle dos Santos is rocking, half shaved with the top slicked back. Kids these days.

No goals in this game but there's been another in the other semi-final. Marlos has equalised for Shakhtar against Sevilla, 1-1.

Francis Edwards: I know Mignolet has a bandwagon after his gloves, but he has been exceptional this season, especially in Europe.

So far so good for Liverpool as they approach the midway point without conceding.

But then there's some desperate defending to be done as Cedric Bakambu gets the ball inside the box and flicks it behind him in an attempt to find a team-mate. Lucas is across to stab clear but the ball is worked to Tomas Pina on the edge of the area and his shot is well saved by Simon Mignolet.

A good question. Is this a rare treat?

Liverpool are trying to work it into the box from out wide but they are finding it difficult to break through a yellow wall. It's clearly a well disciplined Villarreal defence and Philippe Coutinho gives up trying to find a way through by shooting from just inside the area. Blocked.
