"It has been a fantastic start. Both sides have started really quick - I think Villarreal are just shading it. They are playing with two centre-forwards, not many play with two centre-forwards these days, so they have a target to hit."
Villarreal 0-0 Liverpool
Lucas has a go from outside the area. I think the last time Lucas scored, Leicester were in League One so it's no surprise to see the ball sail well, well wide.
Jurgen Klopp was in hysterics when Lucas sent a wayward effort wide late on against Everton earlier this month. He isn't laughing this time though, with James Milner in a good position if Lucas had looked up.
Villarreal 0-0 Liverpool
Liverpool have had the game's best chance with that Joe Allen effort but it is the hosts who are on top at the moment. They are very quick to move the ball forward and it is leaving Liverpool struggling to get any meaningful passes together.
Shakhtar Donetsk 0-1 Sevilla
Sevilla just love this competition! The back-to-back winners need just six minutes to grab a potentially-valuable away goal in Ukraine. Spain midfielder Vitolo curls inside the far post. Advantage Sevilla.
Villarreal 0-0 Liverpool
Villarreal pose a threat from free-kicks. Bruno, in particular, is Dimitri Payet-esque from set pieces. He has a chance to do something from one 25 yards from goal but instead of shooting he clips it into the area for Roberto Soldado, who hits his shot into the ground and it bounces just wide.
Villarreal 0-0 Liverpool
This was the banner the Villarreal fans held up at kick-off to remember the 96 Hillsborough victims. A nice touch.
The stands look full at El Madrigal. The capacity is 25k, if it is full then that apparently accounts for half the population of the town of Vila-real itself.

Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 live
"Joe Allen should have scored. All he's really done is pass the ball back to the keeper. It needed to go either side. That might be Liverpool's best chance of the game, you never know."
Villarreal 0-0 Lierpool
Great chance for Liverpool!
It comes from their first real attack as Adam Lallana pings in a low cross from the right, it takes a slight deflection and ends up at the feet of Joe Allen, but his first-time shot is straight at Sergio Asenjo.

"Bruno, the central midfielder, is the key to Villarreal's play - and he has already had about eight touches. Generally when the home centre-backs get the ball, he is their first port of call."
Villarreal 0-0 Liverpool
Villarreal are all about the counter and that is immediately evident as they break at pace, with their attack ending in a Jonathan dos Santos shot straight at Simon Mignolet.

Villarreal 0-0 Liverpool
Villarreal get things under way. A quick reminder of the teams:
Villarreal XI: Asenjo, Mario, Bailly, Ruiz, Costa, Dos Santos, Bruno, Pina, Suarez, Soldado, Bakambu.
Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Clyne, Toure, Lovren, Moreno, Lucas, Allen, Milner, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino.
Villarreal v Liverpool (20:05 BST)
It feels a bit like deja vu because as Liverpool and Villarreal's players walk out it is a sea of yellow around the stadium, just like at Dortmund. Liverpool would take a similar result from that game, when they drew 1-1.
Villarreal v Liverpool (20:05 BST)
Phil Neville
Valencia assistant coach on BBC Radio 5 live
"The away goal is crucial. Even if you lose 2-1 I think it is a good result for the away side because you go back to home stadium and psychologically the away side know can't they concede a goal.
"It is imperative Liverpool score tonight, whether they win or not and keep the score tight."
Villarreal v Liverpool (20:05 BST)
Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 live
"There's no doubt whatsoever that an away goal is vital. If you get one away goal, great. If you get two it is almost the perfect result. It changes the dynamic of the return leg and what opposition have to do."
Villarreal v Liverpool (20:05 BST)
As expected, the sounds of the Beatles' Yellow Submarine is wafting through the air at Villarreal with fans holding up their bright yellow scarves.
This is the exception rather than the norm, by the way. They don't usually play it before kick-off but as it's Liverpool in town...
