Fantastic play! Philippe Coutinho gets the ball in midfield, he turns and runs at goal, he beats one, skips past another, wonderful feet! He finds Daniel Sturridge - who spanners his shot into the crowd.

"Fellani has got to do a lot better. It's a great ball from Michael Carrick. He's got to head it to the corners, a very comfortable save for Simon Mignolet."

Hair in hands moment as Marouane Fellaini can only duff a header straight at Simon Mignolet after a dream of a cross from wide on the right by Michael Carrick.

    Got to do better...

BBC Sport chief football writer at Old Trafford

Liverpool have got Manchester United where they want them here - and Old Trafford is a more subdued place than it was in the first 45 minutes.

United are pressing but Liverpool are waiting to take advantage of the spaces they will inevitably leave.

If this tie is to get interesting again, Manchester United need a goal very quickly.

Martial has indeed been a decent performer this season, but let's not forget just how much he cost. He's doing the very least he should be doing.

    Ian

Fellaini needs to be dropped and sold this summer. He's an utter liability - gives the ball away constantly and seems to elbow somebody once a week. That was a red card and that's coming from a United fan.

"Great play from Manchester United, Michael Carrick switches the play well. They've got a good tempo about them but three goals... Getting to the 18-yard box hasn't been a problem for United in the second half, but they're just lacking that little bit of quality in the final third."

Anthony Martial remains a real threat, I can't help but wonder if he is wasted so wide on the left. He cuts inside, the ball runs for Marcus Rashford 12 yards out - great tackle by Mamadou Sakho.

Moments later Rashford shoots wide. Still a high-speed watch this...

"Liverpool are happy to sit back and they're looking to hit them on the break. Give Manchester United credit, they're trying to pressurise Liverpool."
