Chaos in the Palace box. There are bodies strewn across the turf as defenders throw themselves in to block a feigned shot from Jurado and then Mario Suarez's actual effort. The aftermath is like the battlefield scene from Gone with the Wind.

Femi John Atoyebi: Ake v Wickham is a mismatch! Only one winner in an aerial battle!

Aaron: Been very impressed with Connor Wickham this afternoon! Played exceptionally well!

    Connor Wickham

This is why Connor Wickham is in the team. Palace, smarting from Watford's equaliser, work the ball to Pape Souare for a first-time cross and the big striker holds off his marker Ake and cranes his neck to steer a header into the corner of the net past Costel Pantilimon's reach.

Pape Souare is not a man famed for his goalscoring exploits. But when you're 30 yards from goal and in space why not have a dig? It is a decent effort that flies a few yards over the bar.

"Troy Deeney gets away from his marker. To get his head on the ball there is ridiculous. He uses all that strength he has and just angles it in. Game on!"

Watford level! They win a corner from Ben Watson's deflected free-kick and from the delivery Troy Deeney gets ahead of Scott Dann at the near post to glance in a header. Now we have a game on our hands.

Scott Dann goes into the book for dragging down Odion Ighalo as the Hornets look to attack again. There is life in the Hornets now.

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Watford

Watford looking more of a threat, but still not enough to test Wayne Hennessey. Jurado floats a cross in to the box but it is headed clear by Damien Delaney.

Oh, good save! Yannick Bolasie shows skill and pace again to skip away from a challenge and charge down the left. He cuts in to the box and fires a shot from an angle which Costel Pantilimon blocks with his legs. A couple of corners follow but the big Watford keeper snatches the second out of the air to ease the pressure.

"Alan Pardew has every right to appeal for that.

"There is no panic fro Watford. Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo will want more service and they will be in the ears of their team-mates."

Troy Deeney with a chance. He charges into the box to meet a Nyom cross between two Palace defenders but puts his header high and wide.

Big Palace penalty shout straight away. Connor Wickham gets the wrong side of Miguel Britos in the box and is brought down by the leg of the defender. No penalty says Craig Pawson. I think the Hornets have got away with one there.

Emmanuel Adebayor is out on the pitch warming up, dreadlocks tied behind a big headscarf like Captain Jack Sparrow. At the moment he is very much unrequired. Palace pretty much bossed the first half. What can Watford muster up in the second to change the course of this semi?
