    Crystal Palace 1-0 Watford

Watford enjoy a small period of possession in the Palace half but this comes to an end as Troy Deeney tries a very hopeful effort from about 35 yards, which floats harmlessly over the bar. Tame.

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Watford

Watford again on the attack and they force a corner. Ben Watson delivers but Mile Jedinak does well to head away. This sets up a Palace counter, which sees Yannick Bolasie break into Hornets territory in a flash. Fortunately for Watford, Nyom is well placed to hammer away the delivery into the box. Palace mean business here.

"The corner took a deflection on its way to Bolasie who'd peeled off at the back post. What a start from Palace! He couldn't miss from that range - a yard off the line."

It is all Palace in the opening stages. Jason Puncheon and Pape Souare look to combine down the left but make a right mess of it and the ball trickles out of play.

"I don't see many surprises in the Palace line-up, I think Wickham will offer more than Adebayor up front in terms of link-up play. And the pace in their side could give them the edge.

"For Watford I know Pantilimon has played the FA Cup games but surely you play Gomes if he's your best goalkeeper? It's a risk but Manchester City played their cup goalkeeper in the League Cup final and got that right, so we'll see."

Watford have a Wembley score to settle today.

Three years ago, Kevin Phillips' extra-time penalty for Crystal Palace defeated the Hornets in a tense play-off final at the national stadium.

It consigned Watford to what would be another two seasons in the Championship, seething as Palace basked in the riches and limelight of the Premier League.

They may be in the top-flight now with players who have joined since that game, but the likes of Troy Deeney will not have forgotten. Nor will the Watford fans, especially the ones who were sat right behind Phillips' penalty.
