  1. Clattenburg is the referee againpublished at 19:43 British Summer Time 28 May 2016

Mark Clattenburg is the man with the whistle tonight.

The 41-year-old will be assisted at Milan's San Siro by fellow Englishmen Simon Beck and Jake Collin.

The additional assistant referees will be England's Anthony Taylor and Andre Marriner. Hungarian Viktor Kassai has been named as the fourth official.

"I'm going to be representing my country and the 27,000 referees in England and the great thing is that I can share the success with my team of officials," said Clattenburg.

  5. Goals galore but doubts persist over Ronaldopublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 28 May 2016

    Spanish football writer

"Cristiano Ronaldo has enjoyed another outstanding season, racking up 50-plus goals for the sixth consecutive term to further cement his status as Real's all-time leading goalscorer.

"The Portugal forward has particularly shone in the Champions League, scoring 16 goals in 11 appearances to move within one of equalling the competition's all-time single-season record of 17 - which he set two years ago.

"Yet Ronaldo has struggled against this weekend's opponents in the past couple of years, failing to score in any of the past five occasions he has come up against Atletico's limpet-like defence.

"Whether we see the free-scoring force of nature of the Champions League or the subdued and frustrated peripheral presence of recent games against Atletico will go a long way towards deciding Saturday's final."

  9. Zidane under scrutinypublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 28 May 2016

    Andy West
    Spanish football writer

"Guiding your team into the Champions League final less than five months into your first managerial job at senior level is no mean achievement.

"And when you consider that Zinedine Zidane also reignited Real Madrid's previously faltering La Liga challenge by finishing the season with 12 straight victories - including a 2-1 triumph over arch-rivals Barcelona - you might think the French coach had already earned himself job security.

"The soap opera life at the Bernabeu, however, has seen Zidane face questions over his future in virtually every news conference he has held in recent weeks.

"At probably any other club, Zidane's future would be assured because he has done an excellent job since taking over from much-maligned predecessor Rafa Benitez in January."

  10. 'Little has changed'published at 19:31 British Summer Time 28 May 2016

One man who knows how Zinedine Zidane will be feeling is former Real manager Carlo Ancelotti, who led Los Blancos to the Holy Grail, La Decima, against Atletico two years ago.

"It will not be different, " said Ancelotti, speaking to the BBC's World Service.

"It is the same style more or less for both teams. The game will be really tough, and the result is unpredictable.

"Zidane has the charisma, the personality. This is his first season as a coach and in six months he has done a fantastic job and has reached the Champions league final, he has a fantastic future."

Edgar Davids was a Champions League winner with Ajax in 1995 (not to mention his two years with Barnet of course).

What does he make of Zinedine Zidane's first year in charge of Real Madrid, having got to know the Frenchman at Juventus?

"Zidane's had such a good first year in management that the expectations are going to be really high now," he said.

"Some people excel when they are under pressure and some don't. But if you know his career, the moments when he had to excel, he exceeded every expectation of everyone. And that's what he is doing right now."

Real Madrid appointed Zinedine Zidane as manager in early January, having shown Rafael Benitez the door after only six months in charge.

The Frenchman has been a player, adviser, sporting director, assistant coach and reserve boss at Real before his promotion.

And he has won 21 of his 26 games in charge so far, with Real scoring 71 goals in that time (conceding 18).

Unfortunately for him, one of those two defeats was against Atletico Madrid.

However they won their final 12 La Liga games to finish only one point off champions Barcelona, having trailed by 10 points at the start of April.

"What I love about Diego Simeone is that he is happy to lose what people say are his star players brings and just brings more through. He tells them 'you are going to play the Atletico way'. He will work you hard, you need to have honour and pride.

"Look at what he has achieved to get back to another Champions League final. There are a number of players who played in the game in 2014 and lost, that will hurt, they will have fire in their bellies and that could be the difference."

  14. Simeone can cement place in Atleti historypublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 28 May 2016

Despite all the hype about Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte taking Premier League jobs this summer, joining Jurgen Klopp in England, there is a very strong argument for none of those coaches being the best in the world.

Diego Simeone could very well be the best in the business - and let's be honest, you wouldn't tell him otherwise.

The former Argentina and Atletico combative midfielder, now 46, had already managed Estudiantes and River Plate to titles in his homeland before taking over the Spanish side in 2011.

He led Atletico to the Europa League trophy in his first season in charge and added the 2013 Copa del Rey.

But 2013-14 was the season that made him a legend of the modern managerial game. He ended Barcelona and Real Madrid's 10-year duopoly of the La Liga title, leading Atletico to the crown as well as the Champions League final.

And this year he has again brought them to Europe's top table, as well as mounting another La Liga title challenge, finishing three points off Barcelona.

"It was heartbreaking for Antoine Griezmann when Lyon passed him over. When you trace his trajectory it’s been astonishing over the last couple of years.

"He developed at a far more organic pace than talented youngsters are generally allowed. The atmosphere at Real Sociedad, where there is lower pressure, really helped him.

"The fact he’s continued learning is the mark of a really great player. Simeone is the right coach for him – he doesn’t give him a second’s respite. He says continue to score goals and make runs.

    "Griezmann makes things happen."

Antoine Griezmann basically replaced Diego Costa at Atletico in 2014 and has scored 57 goals in his two seasons so far

"Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann in the right place, under the right coach, at the right time. I think he won’t be going anywhere.

"This is his moment. Maybe Saturday night is his moment.

"The way in which he’s responded to Diego Simeone is very important. At Real Sociedad, he was allowed to be like Alfredo di Stefano and play anywhere he wanted on the pitch at any time.

"Simeone changed all that. Last season after a game against Getafe he called him out in public, which is risky for a coach, and gave him a verbal slap around the head and said 'you’re not doing what I told you to do. You’re not pressing or tracking back, you’re doing the pretty things but it’s not good enough'.

"Often young players on big money say the coach is an idiot. he didn't. He responded brilliantly. He's a far better player - for France too."
