A few people have mentioned that this would have made a good final - and it's started like that. High tempo, zipping the ball around. France pressing so hard. Thomas Muller yet to see the ball for Germany.

    Martin Keown
Former England defender at Stade Velodrome on BBC One

It's a huge game for Emre Can to come into, it looks like he'll play on the right for Germany. Nervy moments early on for him.

Bastian Schweinsteiger will play in the centre, pulling the strings.

  3. 'They're hustling'published at 20:04 British Summer Time 7 July 2016

    Germany 0-0 France

    Chris Waddle
Former England winger at Stade Velodrome on BBC Radio 5 live

Payet was asking for a penalty kick - but it never hit Emre Can's hand as his cross was put behind for a corner. But already you can see how easily he can go past the right-back. A lovely stepover from Payet. France have started well. Good tempo. They're hustling.

  4. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Germany 0-0 France

Bastian Schweinsteiger is playing very deep, just in front of the German back four. He's playing a record 38th game in a World Cup or Euros. And he's only 31. Madness,

  5. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Germany 0-0 France

It's as good a reason as any Yasmin.

France win a corner after a mazy run from Dimitri Payet, after a good run at the other end from Julian Draxler.

A high tempo start we wanted. We've got it.

I'm rooting for Germany. Their outfits look better. (My husband would do a double take if he saw this pop up on his beloved sports feed!)

    Germany 0-0 France

This is a truly amazing atmosphere. I'm hoping for the game of the tournament with lots of free-flowing football.

    Germany 0-0 France

France immediately hit a long ball for Olivier Giroud to flick on and sweeper keeper supreme Manuel Neuer has to scramble it away.

Two years ago Germany swamped hosts Brazil in the World Cup semi-final. Can they do it again?

First up is Das Lied der Deutschen, the German national anthem, it's sung loud and proud. But it's not the loudest. They are outnumbered tonight.

The Stade Velodrome hasn't had a roof for very long. La Marseillaise nearly takes it clean off...

Alan Shearer and Rio Ferdinand both think France will win too.

Gary Lineker: "I've never sat in a studio where all three people think Germany will lose."

  13. 'Griezmann is our Ronaldo'published at 19:55 British Summer Time 7 July 2016

    Germany v France (20:00 BST)

    Thierry Henry
Former France international on BBC One

Dimitri Payet and Paul Pogba have to play well. But the go-to guy, our Ronaldo, is Antoine Griezmann. If he's on tune you know what can happen.

I genuinely think we can beat them. 1-0.

  15. 'This could be the classic'published at 19:55 British Summer Time 7 July 2016

    Germany v France (20:00 BST)

    Danny Mills
Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Toni Kroos is the man who's going to dictate play for Germany. Over 100 touches every single game, he's always looking to get on the ball. But Matuidi or Pogba might have more legs going forward though.

The stereotype is there for a reason. They're very good at what they do, Germany. Very efficient. Schweinsteiger may not have played too much recently, but he'll turn up tonight. Guaranteed.

We haven't had a barn-stormingly brilliant game at these Euros. This could be it.

  17. Postpublished at 19:53 British Summer Time 7 July 2016

    Germany v France (20:00 BST)

Antoine Griezmann is leading the chase for the golden boot, he's on four goals so far. Can he cause havoc in the German defence tonight?

  18. 'Griezmann as the number 10'published at 19:53 British Summer Time 7 July 2016

    Germany v France (20:00 BST)

    Alan Shearer
    Ex-England captain on BBC One

I like Antoine Griezmann more as a number 10 in the middle where he has space to run into. He started on the right side. He's good in the air. If you leave him space, he'll find it. He's intelligent and has good link-up play.

  19. The Giroud fan clubpublished at 19:51 British Summer Time 7 July 2016

    Germany v France (20:00 BST)

    Chris Waddle
Former England winger at Stade Velodrome on BBC Radio 5 live

Olivier Giroud is a very unpredictable footballer. He's scored a few in this tournament but some of the decisions he makes in his build-up play, it's sloppy and I can't work out what he's trying to see.

But he is brave and honest; he never hides. And I think the French fans have taken to that.

  20. 'Both teams weak at the back'published at 19:50 British Summer Time 7 July 2016

    Germany v France (20:00 BST)

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

Samuel Umtiti was at fault for Iceland's two goals on his debut. It’s a huge opportunity for him to start the semi-final.

Both teams' weaknesses are their defences. They want to be on the front foot. It bodes well for goals in this game.
