Peter Newman: Is there any point in Portugal staying? They can fly home and we can make this the final.

Daniel Brown: This is threatening to be the game we've all been waiting for at Euro 2016.

Would Moussa Sissoko get an England cap? He is starting in the semi-final for France and he ends a really promising counter with a poor pass.

Germany a joy to watch in the short spells when they really click. Thomas Muller drops off into the hole and suddenly it's a six man midfield of real class. Pass-pass-pass, tiki-taka on steroids and they pop it off to Julian Draxler on the edge of the area. He's one pass away from a wondergoal but he goes right instead of left and Patrice Evra sweeps it away.

    Fine margins.

Paul Pogba with some midfield play from the £100m club, brushing off a challenge and carrying the ball 40 yards in s few seconds, Yaya Toure in his pomp.

He finds Dimitri Payet on the left, but he fouls his man as he tries an elaborate stepover.

What a great save by Lloris. Kroos threaded that pass through three bodies, an incredible ball to Emre Can.

France can't get near Germany right now. They were brilliant at the start but Germany have settled. The French are getting outnumbered in midfield.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 14 mins

    Germany 0-0 France

Here come Germany now, stepping up a gear, switching to all-wheel drive. Toni Kroos hits an early ball from the left of the penalty area and finds Emre Can in space 16 yards out. Again it's a slightly scuffed effort, down into the ground, but the bounce is going to take it into the net before Hugo Lloris makes a fine sprawling save.

Antoine Griezmann went close to adding to his tally of four goals in this tournament earlier on. If you missed it watch it again here.

It was a good ball into the box by Emre Can. Thomas Muller seems to have lost his confidence in front of goal.

If you let Germany settle on the ball and pass it around, this is what they'll do to you. It's a very good chance. Muller should be hitting the target at least.

    Germany 0-0 France

Better from Germany, Bastian Schweinsteiger ticking the ball over from that quarterback position before they spring Emre Can down the right channel. He doesn't look up and hits a low cross, there's Thomas Muller arriving, stretching, and sliding a shot across goal.

Not the cleanest of strikes, but a neat move. The French defence was stretched.

  11. Thunderous inside Stade Velodromepublished at 20:12 British Summer Time 7 July 2016

You can barely hear yourself think inside Marseille's Stade Velodrome. This is a magnificent, thunderous atmosphere for the Euro 2016 semi[-final.

France have shown some real moments of quality going forward while Germany are trying to take the sting out of the game.

    Germany 0-0 France

    Chris Waddle
Former England winger at Stade Velodrome on BBC Radio 5 live

Germany are just trying to control the game. They're outnumbering France in midfield, passing the ball across and waiting for an opening.

France do not want them to get into a rhythm and settle. They have to keep going at this tempo they've started with.

Germany with their first spell of play, taking a breather, Toni Kroos to the fore as ever. Julian Draxler offers himself up as an option on that left wing but the move breaks down. The world champions are not their usual slick selves just yet, unsettled by the atmosphere and attitude of the French.

An excellent opening salvo from the hosts. But you have to capitalise on these periods of dominance against a team like Germany. Score when you're on top.

Fantastic football by France. Griezmann, with a little give and go, just breezes past a couple of German players but Neuer gets a strong hand down. What a start this has been by the French.

It was great work down the left by Blaise Matuidi. Antoine Griezmann tries to play it and it takes a very agile keeper to save it. He should have gone for a bit more power with his shot.

Germany are happy to just keep the ball for a bit and take the sting out of it.

  18. 'Good start from France'published at 20:08 British Summer Time 7 July 2016

Germany have got three in midfield very close together, and Ozil's been on the right wing so far. He is wasted there. Get him on the ball pulling the strings because they can't put three passes together at the minute, the Germans. It's a very good start from France.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 7 mins

    Germany 0-0 France

Welcome to the party Monsieur Griezmann! Lovely play from the French number seven, skipping into the area and leaving Benedikt Howedes on his backside, he's just too good, too quick.

Griezmann shoots from 15 yards - Manuel Neuer makes a big one-handed save!

    Superb football all round.
