Rousing rendition of "La Marseillaise" from the France fans as Germany mount the pressure. In it together.

Germany coach Joachim Loew looks increasingly anguished as France dig deep here to protect their lead.

Thor Jensen: What a thoroughly terrible tournament Thomas Muller has had. Last chance now.

Daniel Woods: It seems that Germany are running out of ideas. Mario Gomez and Andre Schurrle should make things more interesting!

France have defended so well in numbers, but I'd be thinking about taking Dimitri Payet off now.

Could Gotze or Schurrle come on for Germany and maybe give them something extra?

Germany have had exactly two-third of the possesion so far as we approach the two-thirds mark of the game. Jerome Boateng with another stunning crossfield pass. Nobody better than him at that. It comes to nothing though.

And now Boateng is down with an injury.

France are 35 minutes away from Paris. So to speak, it's a lot further than that in the real world. As the crow flies.

Marseille is rocking as Germany continue to probe patiently. They are playing a good 40% slower than during their first-half peak though. Got to be quicker, got to work harder, got to move it.

Samuel Umtiti is having to [play well]. I'm not particularly happy with Laurent Koscielny coming out and breaking the line - leaving holes for the Germany players to come into.

    Germany 0-1 France

The first half was identical. France come out really quick, Germany then take control. They're getting closer and closer now.

Dimitri Payet is into the game briefly, but not in a good way as his poor pass plays Paul Pogba into trouble, Emre Can almost manages to drive through the middle but his touch gets away from him and he goes down. Too easily.

The German version of 'we're gonna score in a minute' is heard loudly as Samuel Umtiti heads out another cross.

Hector was rolled in and had exactly the right kind of angle to play it dangerously across, but he didn't produce.

Payet has struggled to get in the game. He's had to do a lot of tracking back out there on the left-wing.

Kyle: Boateng has been sensational both in defence and spraying some sublime passes. Brilliant performance.

Luke: Schweinsteiger was out of his depth in a very poor Premier League season. He is a liability for a Euro semi as has been shown!

Jonathan Bruce: There should be a new rule regarding yellow/red cards. captain should get one as well as the player if he cannot control team

Germany have had just four efforts on target for all of their play. Got to work Hugo Lloris harder.

Moussa Sissoko is being asked to play almost as a right-back. He matched Julian Draxler all the way there. It's a definite booking, he's gone in with both feet in a scissor challenge.

The tempo just comes down a notch, into power ballad territory. That will suit France. But Germany still manage to cut open a gap on the left, Jonas Hector flips in a low, early cross and Samuel Umtiti defends his front post really well. You can see why Barcelona are signing him.

Well played Moussa Sissoko. He robs the ball from Julian Draxler right near the corner flag, then gets his body across the man as Draxler slides through him in frustration. A nailed on booking. Pressure eased.

Julian Draxler drops into a pocket of space and has green grass in front of him, there's a lack of real pace streaking through the middle though. He tries to thread one into Thomas Muller but Samuel Umtiti reads it and toes it away.

No panic from Germany yet. They know what they're doing.

Olivier Giroud just delaying it, giving the defender the chance to get back. It was a good chance.

Antoine Griezmann is fired up for this. They've started the second half like they started the first.

Giroud was trying to get it out of his feet, he has to hit that a lot earlier. But what a ball by Pogba, and great movement from Giroud.

Griezmann's rallying the crowd to get behind them. They've started well again, France.

  19. CLOSE!published at 46 mins

    Germany 0-1 France

Great chance for France early on as Olivier Giroud is in acres of space on the left of the area, he's wide out and drags it back past Jerome Boateng, but the Bayern man blocks his shot.

Antoine Griezmann then hits a shot deflected over the top. Allez Les Bleus!

Right then Germany, not many teams win the World Cup and then the Euros, it's very hard to do. France did it. Spain have done it.

You have 45 minutes to stay in it. GO!
