The Iceland players look relaxed as they take to the field. No pressure on them tonight, just the chance of hero status.

Kolbeinn Sigthorsson heads to the stands and is passed his child down for a pre-match embrace.

    Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney is already England's youngest ever goalscorer, and their record goalscorer, and today he will match David Beckham's record of 115 caps.

That's the most by an outfield player and second only to Peter Shilton's haul of 125. That record will surely go soon...

Adam Lallana has been dropped tonight but he's taken the news well. He's laughing and joking as he shows some England fans - possibly relatives of his - something on his phone.

Maybe it's this page. Hello there Nice!

Roy gaves the fans a regal wave as England take to the Stade de Nice pitch.

Iceland striker Eidur Gujohnsen, who played for Bolton and Chelsea, says the match against England will be "special" for the whole country.

Is this a picture of Gary Neville in the opposition penalty area?! Or is it Frank Lampard...?

England have only met Iceland twice in full internationals, and Wayne Rooney was bang in form in front of goal last time out.

England warmed up for Euro 2004 by thrashing Iceland 6-1 - Rooney scored twice, as did Darius Vassell.

Wayne Bridge and Frank Lampard also got on the scoresheet.

What price a repeat result this evening? Around 200/1 at the bookies...

There are six changes for England as Raheem Sterling gets a huge endorsement from Roy Hodgson. Is this a winning XI?

England: Hart, Walker, Cahill, Smalling, Rose, Alli, Dier, Rooney, Sturridge, Kane, Sterling. Subs: Forster, Milner, Lallana, Vardy, Clyne, Henderson, Stones, Wilshere, Barkley, Bertrand, Rashford, Heaton.

Iceland are unchanged. Presumably the two sides won't both be in white. Or my evening is about to get very tricky. The spelling is headache enough!

Iceland: Halldorsson, Saevarsson, Arnason, Ragnar Sigurdsson, Skulason, Gudmundsson, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Gunnarsson, Birkir Bjarnason, Sigthorsson, Bodvarsson. Subs: Kristinsson, Hauksson, Hermannsson, Ingason, Finnbogason, Sigurjonsson, Theodor Elmar Bjarnason, Magnusson, Hallfredsson, Traustason, Gudjohnsen, Jonsson.

Raheem Sterling was affected when he was booed last time out. If he has a bad touch, he misses an early chance, what will he do? It is a gamble playing him tonight.

Raheem Sterling will play on the left of England's front three tonight. Is that a risk? Or the correct call?

He must have been brilliant in training...

The message is that England are going to play with width. They expect Iceland to sit back and frustrate them. England have been creating chances - they need to be ruthless in front of goal.

  10. The rough with the smooth...published at 18:56 British Summer Time 27 June 2016

    England v Iceland (20:00 BST)

The Icelandic commentator, whose excitement over a late Euro 2016 goal sent him viral, has lost his day job as a part-time football manager.

Gudmundur Benediktsson was more than a little excited when Iceland scored a last-minute winner against Austria.

But just a few days later, he's been let go from his role with local side KR Reykjavik, as the team's performance has been "unacceptable" recently.

The team revealed the news of his departure, external on their website.

    Worth it...

    Danny Murphy

I am so confident because we have had so many chances against all three teams we have played so far in this tournament.

Only Portugal had more shots in the group stage than we managed against Russia, Wales and Slovakia, and Iceland are simply not as good as those last two teams.

We just have to play at the same tempo we have done in all our matches in France so far, keep the ball moving, get it into people's feet around the box and mix things up by getting crosses in too.

What a great win for Italy! They are into the quarter finals after goals from Giorgio Chiellini and Graziano Pelle!

The equation for Roy Hodgson is simple. If England cannot navigate a way past Iceland and into a last-eight meeting with hosts France in Paris, it is impossible to see how he will survive as manager.

FA chairman Greg Dyke has suggested that a tag of "unlucky losers" in the quarter-final may save Hodgson and a place in the last four would be regarded as success. A semi-final place will be enough to extend his reign to six years - the end of the next World Cup in Russia in 2018.

What has not been mentioned, or indeed what would not be countenanced, is a last-16 defeat by a country ranked 34th in the world and with a population of 330,000 - the same as Leicester.

England have had 46 more shots than their opponents (Russia, Wales, Slovakia) over their first three games - but have only scored one more goal.

If you don't shoot, you don't score. Right?

  15. Conditions perfect in Nicepublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 27 June 2016

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer in Nice

Glorious sunshine, warm temperatures and the surface at the Allianz Riviera Stade de Nice being given a pre-match soaking.

In other words, the conditions here on the Cote d'Azur are perfect for England to face Iceland in the last 16 of Euro 2016.

As expected, Raheem Sterling is recalled at the expense of Adam Lallana, who can consider himself unlucky as he has performed with greater distinction than his former Liverpool team-mate here in France.

England manager Roy Hodgson has huge faith in Sterling, however, and is confident he will deliver tonight.

There are plenty of Iceland fans inside the stadium already and making themselves heard.

The helicopter shots of the Stade de Nice are making me incredibly envious of any of you readers at the game.

Not only is the weather, well nice, but the stadium is situated in an area of absolute beauty.

It's a long way from Wembley. In every sense of the word.

How 22 men from Iceland and England will cope in the Mediterranean sun is another matter...

If England can find a way past Iceland they will face tournament hosts France in the last eight. Didier Deschamps' side saw off Republic of Ireland on Sunday, coming back from 1-0 down to win 2-1.

You will have heard, and read, a thousand times about the gulf in size and resources between these two nations. And it's common sense to be honest.

If Iceland win, it might well be the biggest shock since, well, May.
