England manager Roy Hodgson's right-hand man Ray Lewington has just raced to the edge of his technical area to demand more urgency and to wave the team further upfield.

Wembley is very quiet at the moment - bored stiff probably.

You can hear the players shouting to each other. It's WEMBLEY. And it's pretty full.

A quiet game in more ways than one.

I fear this may be a bad, bad half of international football coming up. Portugal are showing no real ambition but still keeping plenty of the ball.

Ben Pathe: Is this Roy's cunning plan to lower our pre-tournament expectations? Big contrast with the Euro 96 nostalgia last night.

You know what they need? A dentist's chair session...

Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane are fundamentally not wingers. But they've spent most of the game extremely wide left and right respectively.

    A half-time change of shape?

Charles Fotheringham: Right personnel, wrong system. Replace Milner with Sterling, 4-2-3-1 with Rooney alongside Dier, Kane & Alli through the middle

Salman Jaffer: Has Hodgson been taking advice from Van Gaal because 'exciting' England are playing some seriously boring football.

Jamie Brilley: One last ditch attempt to make a ENG team built around Rooney work... it doesn't.

"This was supposed to be the new Roy, an attacking England. But we have created no chances."

"I would like to see somebody a bit more creative come on at half-time. Someone to work this Portugal side a bit more, take the ball, one-twos, bring players into the game,we have more opportunities now, we only have to worry about Nani. If everyone tracks their players, we should be fine."

Mediocre fare from England here. The attacking system is not working with no-one in a forward position offering natural width. There is a good team in there trying to get out but it is not happening in this set-up.

More questions than answers for Roy Hodgson from those 45 minutes.
