Peter Collins: This really should be the starting XI at the Euros. Not because it's our best team, but because if it isn't, why is it playing?

michael bainbridge: That looks like his preferred 11. . Not sure about Milner.

James Croydon: The England starting 11 tonight was the exact team I picked in my #bbcfootball selector. Hopefully it produces the goods! #tacticalgenius

Matt Gould, external I was at Wembley the night we never made the euros losing 3-2 to Croatia we only needed a draw and came back from two down as well. That and Sol Campbell's disallowed goal against Argentina France 1998

  14. 'We have a weak defence'published at 19:15 British Summer Time 2 June 2016

    England v Portugal (19:45 BST)

    Danny Mills
Ex-England defender for BBC Radio 5 live

"The problem Roy Hodgson has is he does not have enough definites in he England squad, he does not have nine that you say will definitely start.

"He is limited in options of the style he will play, there is no width in the squad with players in form. I think Andros Townsend would have been a good option as player than can run at opponents and offer width. He has a lot of forward players so it will be Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy up front with Wayne Rooney behind them.

"i am surprised with the two full-backs, they are very cavalier. I think Ryan Bertrand and Nathaniel Clyne are better defenders than Kyle Walker and Danny Rose. We have a weak defence and have to make sure we do not get caught out."

  18. Carvalho still has itpublished at 19:08 British Summer Time 2 June 2016

    England v Portugal (19:45 BST)

Chelsea fans might have fond memories of Portugal's 38-year-old defender Ricardo Carvalho.

The veteran spent six seasons at Stamford Bridge, wining three Premier League titles and three FA Cups.

He joined from Porto in 2004, following manager Jose Mourinho to London.

The pair were also reunited at Real Madrid in 2010.

Carvalho now plays for Monaco, having been signed by now Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri.

Carvalho will be one of the oldest players at Euro 2016, behind 40-year-old Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given.

He made his Portugal debut in 2003 and has played at Euro 2004, World Cup 2006, Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup.

Carvalho retired from international duty in 2011, after learning he would not be starting a Euro 2012 qualifying game.

It led to a three-year exile from the national team until he returned in 2014.
