In both of Roy Hodgson's previous tournaments - Euro 2012 and World Cup 2014 - 10 of the 11 who started the final game before the tournament went on to start the first game.
So we can expect a similar team to this against Russia in 10 days' time or so.

The chaps on ITV reckon it is a diamond tonight, with Wayne Rooney playing behind Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane. Exciting times? Or defensive nightmare?

At least five goals tonight, I reckon.

Mani Thangadurai: Low moments for English football? Euro 1992, dumped out by Sweden, Gary Lineker taken off by Graham Taylor. Enough said.
England finished bottom of their group at Euro 1992, drawing against France and eventual winners Denmark, before losing to Sweden.

Peter Collins: This really should be the starting XI at the Euros. Not because it's our best team, but because if it isn't, why is it playing?
michael bainbridge: That looks like his preferred 11. . Not sure about Milner.
James Croydon: The England starting 11 tonight was the exact team I picked in my #bbcfootball selector. Hopefully it produces the goods! #tacticalgenius

Matt Gould, external I was at Wembley the night we never made the euros losing 3-2 to Croatia we only needed a draw and came back from two down as well. That and Sol Campbell's disallowed goal against Argentina France 1998
Mike Marshall, external The '96 Germany squad singing "Football's coming home" after winning Euro '96. I could just about cope with the disappointment of exiting the tournament but that truly hurt and I still think to this day it was very unprofessional. Wounded!
Sulmaan Shahid, external England v Portugal 2004.. Owen's goal within 2 mins, Rooney's injury, Campbell's disallowed goal, Lampard's equaliser in extra time and Ricardo's penalty to finish us off.. what a game
James Everett, external Was 14 when Italia 90 was on. My mum had a boyfriend who was half German at the time who didn't even like football but loved rubbing it in...

Apparently Cristiano Ronaldo is in Ibiza.
This is a picture he posted on Wednesday on Instagram.
But just seven hours ago he posted this picture of him training. No rest for the wicked.

"I think Roy Hodgson is going with more of a diamond shape, with Eric Dier at the bottom, Dele Alli on the left, James Milner on the right and Wayne Rooney at the top."

It is incredibly rare to get so close to a tournament and not be sure of at least eight or nine of the starting England XI. Is this it?
Hugely attacking. On paper.

Danny Mills
Ex-England defender for BBC Radio 5 live
"The problem Roy Hodgson has is he does not have enough definites in he England squad, he does not have nine that you say will definitely start.
"He is limited in options of the style he will play, there is no width in the squad with players in form. I think Andros Townsend would have been a good option as player than can run at opponents and offer width. He has a lot of forward players so it will be Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy up front with Wayne Rooney behind them.
"i am surprised with the two full-backs, they are very cavalier. I think Ryan Bertrand and Nathaniel Clyne are better defenders than Kyle Walker and Danny Rose. We have a weak defence and have to make sure we do not get caught out."
Portugal tonight. Aylesbury in 1988.
For some reason Bobby Robson's side took on the Beezer Homes outfit in their final warm-up game before heading off to West Germany.
Why? Who knows! Just watch it. Wonder if Gary will dig out those pants for Match of the Day next season...?
This will be Joe Hart's 59th England cap tonight - eight years and one day since he made his debut against Trinidad & Tobago.
Funny to think he's 29 now.

Chelsea fans might have fond memories of Portugal's 38-year-old defender Ricardo Carvalho.
The veteran spent six seasons at Stamford Bridge, wining three Premier League titles and three FA Cups.
He joined from Porto in 2004, following manager Jose Mourinho to London.
The pair were also reunited at Real Madrid in 2010.
Carvalho now plays for Monaco, having been signed by now Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri.
Carvalho will be one of the oldest players at Euro 2016, behind 40-year-old Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given.
He made his Portugal debut in 2003 and has played at Euro 2004, World Cup 2006, Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup.
Carvalho retired from international duty in 2011, after learning he would not be starting a Euro 2012 qualifying game.
It led to a three-year exile from the national team until he returned in 2014.

This is the first time that Wayne Rooney, Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane have all played together for England. A significant moment in the final game before the tournament?
