Both sides are now making a change as Darren Bent comes on for Will Hughes for Derby, while Sam Clucas comes on for Robert Snodgrass - after a bit of a problem with the official's board.

On this evidence you wonder why Derby have finished the season in the top six, they have been that poor.

Or is it that Hull have just been very good at making sure they have as little space as possible and been devastating on the break? 

I guess it's all a case of perspective...

Derby are stepping it up, finally...

Tom Ince has a poor shot at goal but Eldin Jakupovic parries it, despite the strike going well wide, before shortly after right-back Cyrus Christie breaks into the area but has the ball nicked off him.

"There has been absolutely no change to the last 20 minutes of the first half.

"I am massively shocked that Derby head coach Darren Wassall hasn't changed the shape and put Nick Blackman up front, gone 4-4-2 and said 'let's get after them'.

Jacob Butterfield has Derby's first shot on target of the game, and even though it is easily dealt with by the goalkeeper, ironic cheers resound around the iPro Stadium.

The fans haven't really seen much from their side.

Sporting a black headband Terry Butcher-style and with a new numberless shirt on, Craig Bryson can continue.

Meanwhile, we've just seen shots of Derby football advisor Harry Redknapp on the phone to Craig Short on the Rams bench. Wonder what he's relaying to them from his lofty position in the stands?

We've got a break in play now as Derby midfielder Craig Bryson has quite a nasty cut on his head after an accidental clash.

It gives Hull players a chance to regroup, and Derby players a chance to work out how to break down the Tigers.

From the resulting free-kick Derby right-back Cyrus Christie can't keep his header down when flying in in the six-yard box, but he was in an offside position anyway.

Hull obviously want to hold on to their lead for the second leg, but it's probably best not to do it by time wasting. Moses Odubajo goes into the book for holding onto a throw-in for too long.

Soon after he hauls down Tom Ince and could count himself fortunate to still be on the pitch.

Hull goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic - playing because Allan McGregor is injured - may not have had much to do in this match, but when called upon it isn't convincing. He flaps at a Cyrus Christie ball into the area, but Craig Bryson slices a strike at goal.

Darren Wassall makes his second change of the match. Johnny Russell off for Nick Blackman - yet to score for the Rams. What a time it would be to do it.

"Derby just cannot break Hull down. 

"Everybody is doing their job defensively, there is nobody who is free to get on the ball, turn and get at that Hull defence.

"Everybody to a man is picking their man up, seeing the danger out and forcing them back."

While Derby can't seem to get a shot away, Hull can and it's Mo Diame who has a strike from distance this time.

But it's low and weak and easily dealt with by Scott Carson in the Derby goal, the much, much, much busier of the keepers today.

I think I saw Eldin Jakupovic having a cuppa earlier.

Yet more disappointment on the edge of the area for Derby as Johnny Russell's short-range pass to Jacob Butterfield on the edge of the area is cut out by Hull centre-back Curtis Davies with relative ease.

It looks increasingly likely that Hull are going to take a lead back to the KCOM Stadium, a place they have only lost once this season in the league. 

Who was that against? Yeah, you've guessed it. Derby.

"I would bring on Jeff Hendrick and Nick Blackman for Derby. 

"How Hendrick does not get into this side before Bradley Johnson and Craig Bryson, I do not know."

Hull midfielder Robert Snodgrass has a pop at goal from a free-kick about 35 yards out.

Because it's come such a long way and lacking in pace, defender Jason Shackell can get back to clear it behind with his head from a corner, which eventually comes to nothing after they play it short.

That change comes after yet more fruitless Derby probing, as Bradley Johnson comes off for Jacob Butterfield. Will that mean a change in formation or approach for Derby?

There is a pattern being set in this game. Derby probe, look for some space in the Hull half, don't find any and lose the ball before three or four Hull players charge forward on the break.

Darren Wassall looks like he's about to make a change to try to change that...

"Derby have got three in midfield, which is their insurance, let them go and match up. The wingers are too worried about the opposite wingers, you have got to just push them on.
