    Derby 0-1 Hull

Mo Diame has the chance to make it 2-0 to Hull as he drifts into space and picks up an Andrew Robertson pass in the middle of the area and given way too much space.

However, he strike lacks both power and direction, two things which are useful when it comes to shooting.

"What a fantastic strike. Hull put the pressure on and it was Johnson who played a back-pass and it didn't get to his centre-half who he was looking for.

"Abel picks it up, a little run inside and he took it early."

Derby left-back Marcus Olsson is a lucky man there, he could have been off.

Moses Odubajo has him on toast, and despite already being on a yellow card, Olsson decides to try to slide in on the Hull right-back. He doesn't get there, but Odubajo stays on his feet and the ball eventually runs out of play.

The Sweden international is playing a dangerous game.

    Derby 0-1 Hull

Hull defender Michael Dawson is in the book now after a tangle with Chris Martin that he kicked the ball away from afterwards. The experienced centre-back really should know better.

Hull stuck with Steve Bruce after their relegation to the Championship last season. Has that Abel Hernandez goal given that decision yet more justification?

Don't write off Derby just yet though...

    Derby 0-1 Hull

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Leicester striker at iPro Stadium, BBC Radio 5 live

"Bradley Johnson gave the ball away in midfield, they were quickly onto it, Abel Hernandez was probably a good 20 yards out but he hit low and hard and Scott Carson can't get across.

"That's why, when you have games like this, you need players like Hernandez to be the difference and so far today that has been the case."

When Hull have scored this season, Abel Hernandez has usually been involved and he has bagged his 22nd of the season at the iPro Stadium.

It all comes from a mistake by Derby midfielder Bradley Johnson, who gifts the ball to Hull in the middle of the park, and Hernandez picks it up outside the area, cuts onto his left and fires a low shot which trickles just out of the reach of Scott Carson.

    Derby 0-0 Hull

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Leicester striker at iPro Stadium, BBC Radio 5 live

"The tempo of the game has just stepped up a notch, thankfully.

"The delivery has been poor for Hull at this stage. When they have had the chance to put the ball in the box it's not been very good.

"Derby have put in one or two super balls in which they haven't attacked or made the most of. Hull haven't given themselves even the opportunity to attack the ball."

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 28 mins

    Derby 0-0 Hull

We have our first booking of the game as Derby left-back Marcus Olsson is very late on the pacy Moses Odubajo.

From the resulting free-kick, Abel Hernandez can't get his header on target and Scott Carson sees it out.

Cyrus Christie is absolutely dismayed at giving away what he perceived to be a foul when he challenges Robert Snodgrass.

Snodgrass winces and holds his shoulder afterwards, but Hull now have the chance to play a ball into the box, which again is way too long and dealt with by Scott Carson.

    A theme is emerging.

    Derby 0-0 Hull

Derby give away a very soft free-kick on their right when Jake Livermore is felled, but the ball in by Robert Snodgrass is too long and goes right into the hands of Derby keeper Scott Carson.

The Rams go down the other end and a lofted ball forward is touched down by Marcus Olsson to Chris Martin, who fires over.

    Derby 0-0 Hull

Derby are getting on top in this game and are playing some delicious football. Almost as delicious as those 1.4 billion bananas would taste (12:29).

Will Hughes is the spark and he plays a one-two with Chris Martin before laying it into Bradley Johnson free in the area, but the former Norwich man can't control it properly and Hull clear.

    Derby 0-0 Hull

Hull manage to get the first corner away with ease, but Tom Ince's ball in for the second is much better, but just over the head of Derby right-back Cyrus Christie and goes out for a goal-kick.

Christie later then plays in a great ball but Michael Dawson gets his body in the way of Johnny Russell and wins Hull a free-kick.

"Tom Ince looked ruefully away from the free-kick. It was a wonderful free-kick, he was probably thinking why no-one was attacking that ball at the far post."

    Derby 0-0 Hull

Derby have a free-kick in a dangerous area on the left-hand side after Tom Ince was fouled.

The former England Under-21 man gets up and plays in a delicious ball but none of his team-mates can get on the end of it and it's turned away for a corner.

  16. Postpublished at 14 mins

    Derby 0-0 Hull

Hull have an opportunity when Ahmed Elmohamady's cross eventually finds its way out to Tom Huddlestone on the edge of the area, but he can't get enough on it and it goes wide of the mark.

    Derby 0-0 Hull

Derby get a break when Hull right-back Moses Odubajo plays a pass to nobody in the middle of the park and Johnny Russell tries to reverse the loose ball to striker Chris Martin, but it is just overhit.

Hopefully we'll see more chances soon...

    Derby 0-0 Hull

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Leicester striker at iPro Stadium, BBC Radio 5 live

"The Championship is massively well endowed with quality players throughout the squads. You only have to look at the substitutes bench on either side to know how strong both these squads are.

"This is quite an evenly matched game, there won't be an awful lot between these two.

"You won't want to lose it in this one, you will want to make sure, even if you're Derby perhaps with a slight lead but not having lost the game.

"These will be two really tight, tough games."

    Derby 0-0 Hull

We have our first attempt on goal as the ball drops to Hull striker Abel Hernandez on the edge of the area, but he cannot connect well with the ball well enough to get it on target.
