This man must have thought he was in for a busy day today, but so far it's not proved to be the case.

Goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic came in for just his third Championship appearance of the season for Hull in placed of the injured Allan McGregor, but has barely been tested other than a couple of crosses...

    Derby 0-2 Hull

Derby really are struggling to break down Hull.

Symptomatic of this match so far, Johnny Russell runs from left to right and gains literally no ground whatsoever. Eventually his ball inside to Will Hughes goes forward to Tom Ince, but his strike is blocked by about three Hull players.

Hull have started the second half on top and after Mo Diame does ever so well to win a corner off Will Hughes, Curtis Davies' flying header is just over the bar from Robert Snodgrass' delivery.

Derby, looking to respond quicky I'm sure, get the game back under way.

As a side note, it seems like Hull's second goal will go down as a Jason Shackell own goal. Not sure he'll want that...

    David Burns
    BBC Radio Humberside

"A very, very, very satisfactory first 45 minutes from Hull City. They must be buzzing with a 2-0 half-time lead.

"They had a lot of pressure early on but then they got to grips with the game."

    HT: Derby 0-2 Hull

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Leicester striker at iPro Stadium, BBC Radio 5 live

"Unfortunately Derby have run out of ideas very quickly. You're going to have to look to maybe getting Darren Bent, Jeff Hendrick or Nick Blackman on - just someone who is going to give them something a little bit different to what they have got.

"They can't play through Hull, they tried and haven't created much. The last 20 minutes of the first half, they have virtually fallen into a hole. Their passes have gone astray, they've knocked balls long when they should have gone short.

"They might need to go two up front and take a bit of a risk to get back in the game somehow."

Hull have been so clinical when they've had the chance, while Derby have yet to even have a shot on target yet in this match, of all matches.

Wouldn't you just love to be a fly on the wall in the Rams' dressing room, listening to the words of Darren Wassall as he tries to get his side to up their game.

Derby are unable to find an equaliser in added time, and Hull even finish the half on the front foot, with Moses Odubajo's cross needing to be closed down just before the referee blows his whistle.

    Steve Claridge

"It's so unlucky for Derby because it was a period when they just had to stay in the game.

"Hull have been fantastic for the last 5-10 minutes since they scored the first and you got the feeling if the home side conceded again it would be very difficult for them.

"There is that feeling, as soon as they conceded that first goal of 'we've been here before'. It probably hits them a bit harder because they have been here so many times before."

We've got two minutes of added time in the first half.

What can Derby County do to get back into this match? In the words of Steve Claridge, they have been the dominant side in the first half but find themselves behind.

The Rams are unable to make the most of a Tom Ince free-kick from the left and don't even test Eldin Jakupovic from it.

Hull have just taken a massive step to Wembley here, and it's come through a massive slice of luck.

The Tigers keep the ball well after Moses Odubajo's overhit delivery into the area, and Jake Livermore eventually gets the ball back to him.

The former Brentford man has a pop shot at goal from the edge of the area, which hits two Derby defenders, and the final deflection off Jason Shackell leaves Scott Carson helplessly looking at the ball as it goes in.

    Derby 0-1 Hull

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Leicester striker at iPro Stadium, BBC Radio 5 live

"It's a bit of a snatch-and-grab at the moment. They have been on the back foot in this game, it is Derby that have made all the running without testing Hull's keeper that much.

"Steve Bruce would have taken a draw here. That's a big goal, sometimes they are not in two-legged affairs, but in this game you feeling in this one it's big."
