Derby really are struggling to break down Hull.

Symptomatic of this match so far, Johnny Russell runs from left to right and gains literally no ground whatsoever. Eventually his ball inside to Will Hughes goes forward to Tom Ince, but his strike is blocked by about three Hull players.

Hull have started the second half on top and after Mo Diame does ever so well to win a corner off Will Hughes, Curtis Davies' flying header is just over the bar from Robert Snodgrass' delivery.

Derby fans know that feeling all too well, given the evidence of the first half...

Derby, looking to respond quicky I'm sure, get the game back under way.

As a side note, it seems like Hull's second goal will go down as a Jason Shackell own goal. Not sure he'll want that...

Hull have been so clinical when they've had the chance, while Derby have yet to even have a shot on target yet in this match, of all matches.

Wouldn't you just love to be a fly on the wall in the Rams' dressing room, listening to the words of Darren Wassall as he tries to get his side to up their game.

Derby are unable to find an equaliser in added time, and Hull even finish the half on the front foot, with Moses Odubajo's cross needing to be closed down just before the referee blows his whistle.

"It's so unlucky for Derby because it was a period when they just had to stay in the game. 

"Hull have been fantastic for the last 5-10 minutes since they scored the first and you got the feeling if the home side conceded again it would be very difficult for them.

"There is that feeling, as soon as they conceded that first goal of 'we've been here before'. It probably hits them a bit harder because they have been here so many times before."

What can Derby County do to get back into this match? In the words of Steve Claridge, they have been the dominant side in the first half but find themselves behind.

The Rams are unable to make the most of a Tom Ince free-kick from the left and don't even test Eldin Jakupovic from it.
