As we've already discussed, Adnan Januzaj has been busy on Sunderland's right wing, nearly half of their moves are coming down that flank.

Sunderland try to prize the Middlesbrough backline open with some intricate play, but it's not very good.

Duncan Watmore plays the ball into the feet of Jermain Defoe in the box and the striker stands a Boro defender up. He waits for Watmore to make his run, but the pass is awful and straight into goalkeeper Brad Guzan's hands.

No Lee Cattermole for Sunderland today, missing out against his old club.

He is sat in the stands and tells the young kid next to him, who looks like his son, to sit down and watch the match.

The kid does exactly as he is told.

Cattermole the enforcer on and off the pitch.

Sunderland have the ball in the back of the net but Jermain Defoe's neat finish from inside the area is chalked off as he was offside from Donald Love's pass.

Not quite. The Sunderland midfielder's drive from outside the box is poor and sails over the crossbar.

First man into the book is Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Clayton, who tries to retrieve the situation after a team-mate gives the ball away, but ends up hacking at Adnan Januzaj on the counter.

Adnan Januzaj is seeing plenty of the ball on the right flank for Sunderland and he has the beating of Boro full-back George Friend at the moment.

The Belgian's delivery has not been the best though. A cut back into the box is cleared easily by the visiting defenders.

The ball is recycled, but striker Jermain Defoe snatches at a shot which rolls harmlessly out of play.

Back at Boro permanently after last season's loan spell, Gaston Ramirez hits a deflected effort which causes Vito Mannone little problem. On another day, it could have looped over his head and into the net.

Seconds later, Adam Forshaw finds space on the edge of the box but drags his shot wide.

Well, Moyes' boys, as Sunderland's official Twitter page calls them, have work to do now. They started well but got caught with a sucker-punch.

The Belgian almost gets on the end of Lynden Gooch's cross into the box, but it is just too long and drifts out of play.
