The Dutch goalkeeper comes up cherries, sliding in to get his toe to the ball a fraction of a second before Liverpool's Mane.

It was across north London at the Emirates that Liverpool tore Arsenal to shreds on the opening day of the season.

So far, with Daniel Sturridge on the bench, they look more like that side than the one that limped to defeat at Burnley.

More interchange, more runners from deep and more danger generally.

The atmosphere has changed. It seems to have calmed right down. That's what you have to do when you come to these difficult grounds. Liverpool were hanging on but now look more comfortable.

Liverpool bomb forward in reply

Sadio Mane stands up Danny Rose, darts outside and drills in a cross-cum-shot that loops up via a defender's shin and requires some smart work from Michel Vorm to recover his ground and tip over the top.

A proper prize fight this one, both teams throwing haymakers, neither have landed. Yet.

Tottenham have to get the balance right. The best chances have come from Liverpool on the break.

Promising for Tottenham.

Harry Kane shugs off Dejan Lovren like some unwanted attention on the backrow of the cinema and races towards goal.

He lays the ball into the path of Dele Alli on the edge of the box and only a superb bit of back-scurrying from Adam Lallana denies him a clear shot on goal.

Jordan Henderson copped a fair bit of flak in the wake of Liverpool's toothless display in defeat by Burnley last weekend.

Is he good enough to play at the base of midfield?

He shows off his range of passing as he strokes a 50-yard ball forward, trying to pick out Philippe Countinho.

It has too much on it though, failing to check on landing and skipping through to Michel Vorm.

It has been a bubbly start at White Hart Lane.

Still plenty for early-season optimism, judging by the decibels from both sets of fans.

Sadio Mane is almost playing as a right-back at the moment because Danny Rose is forcing him back. Tottenham are really tyring to take the initiative

I'm not sure about James Milner playing left-back for Liverpool and every time Erik Lamela gets it he's licking his lips.

Christian Eriksen goes for goal from a free-kick out wide, 20 yards out. It is a tricky angle, but a decent strike which adds up to Simon Mignolet's first save.

The Liverpool goalkeeper parries well clear. 

Robin Smit: A player of Coutinho's experience & quality should really be scoring there. That's a bad miss.

Ricology: Still shocked with Coutinho miss, a contender for the season already. Hope there's no more regrets after the 90min.

That's a remarkable save. Coutinho had lots of space. Michel Vorm is diving the other way. Definitely should have scored but an instinctive save.

Should be! Has to be! Isn't!

Philippe Countinho has the ball rolled into his path eight yards from goal without a defender in sight.

He seems to try and give Michel Vorm the eyes, but it is too clever by half and the Dutchman stretches out a leg to save at the near-post.

A massive let-off for Spurs.

Tottenham have started the brighter, popping the ball around the fringes of the back and pressing the red shirts back.

Dele Alli over-cooks a cross from the right, but White Hart Lane chant his name anyway.

Spurs have lined up as expected with Harry Kane up front on his own ahead of a busy trio of Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Dele Alli.

Roberto Firmino is through the middle for Liverpool with Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane pushed on and wide.

Bobby Madley is the referee today and Tottenham get us up and running.

Plenty of England team love as Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson get a special flick of the eyes from Harry Kane and Dele Alli at the handshakes.
