Saido Berahino finds himself swimming in a sea of red when he gets the ball inside the Middlesbrough box as he closed down by a swarm of defenders.

The visitors then break quickly up the other end to win a corner, from which there is a mighty scramble in the box, before Cristhian Stuani manages to poke a shot at goal, but Ben Foster is behind it.

Now then. A football match has broken out at the Hawthorns. Suddenly there is a bit more tempo to the play. Exciting finish on the cards?

    West Brom 0-0 Middlesbrough

With 17 minutes left, Middlesbrough register their first shot on target as Antonio Barragan skips past several chances just inside the area before threading a pass to Cristhian Stuani, who bends a shot goalwards but Ben Foster is behind it. The West Brom keeper needs two bites of the cherry, though, having spilled his initial save. Probably taken by surprise at having to do something, to be fair.

Eventually, Saido Berahino comes on, but it is sadly Jonathan Leko who has to make way. He's done some damage to his leg after challenging for his first touch and can't continue.

A mixture of boos and claps as Berahino comes on. Could this be his last appearance in a West Brom shirt?

Jonathan Hind: Feel sorry for Dimi (Konstantopoulos) at Boro. Great record over 2 seasons then they pick worst keeper ever in Guzan.

GuardianoftheGlaxay: People think it's great that Pulis guarantees premiership football. I'd rather watch exciting football in the championship

Muhammed Owais Khan: Berahino is being destroyed by West Brom in last 2 seasons. He is not being sold and not being played for asking to be sold

What's going on there then? Saido Berahino is now sitting on the dugout steps, his brow furrowed in apparent frustration.

Meanwhile, Claudio Yacob is booked for a foul on Gaston Ramirez.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 64 mins

Change for West Brom and it is 17-year-old forward Jonathan Leko who comes on for James McClean.

Saido Berahino stays on the bench for now, even though he is stripped and ready to go...

Andrew Jarman-Norris: when the F1 is more interesting than the football then you know that you're in trouble.

Nick Bruzon: An hour gone and just nothing. This isn't even a game for the purists as more one for the insomniacs.

Andrew Yaxley: Did Mr Lat (14:40) not watch Eden Hazard last season? Burn out is not just for the English (Although sunburn may be).

Tony Pulis does not look a happy man on the touchline. He's not happy at being the second lowest spender so far in the transfer window and this game is perhaps highlighting why he wants to bring in players. No spark, no creativity.

Given the lack of chances from open play, West Brom have to make the most of their set pieces. Sadly, they don't as Jonny Evans floats a ball into the box and Antonio Barragan hacks clear.

The Middlesbrough heatmap makes it look like the players are physically repelled by the West Brom area. They've barely stepped a foot inside it.

Tim Sherwood: West Brom under Steve Clarke were an exciting team to watch with good prospects. Then Tony Pulis came and we get this travesty.

Jay: If I was a WB fan, I'd be thankful to Pulis for the chance to watch the likes of Aguero/Pogba/Ibra/Hazard at the Hawthorns.

Lat: Why is it that only English footballers seem to get "burnt out"?

Gaston Ramirez is treading on dangerous territory. Moments after being booked, he goes in strong on Jonny Evans. Referee Anthony Taylor blows his whistle and wags his finger at Ramirez. You sense he won't be giving him many more chances.
