I think Sergio Aguero is a huge miss. He's irreplaceable. But I am fascinated to see what Zlatan Ibrahimovic does - he may not have the legs of four or five years ago, but how will City cope with him? He needs just a moment to turn the game. His head-to-head versus John Stones will be decisive.

Mark from Brighton: Ironically I'll be watching the game from The Anfield bar in Crete - as a United fan I hope this doesn't jinx us!

Joel from Luton: Missing the Manchester & Glasgow derbies, Liverpool v Leicester and the boxing to go to my Mrs' friend's wedding, where I know three people. Hoping I will see men throughout the day huddling in a corner hiding from their wives checking scores. Not feeling optimistic. Talk about choosing your days for a wedding.

Pep Guardiola is new to the Premier League but we know what Jose Mourinho is like. The two are very high-profile but really we should look at the match. There are two very contrasting styles on show and it'll be fascinating to see who comes out on top.

If United win then I expect Guardiola to be gracious. But if Jose's men lose then he'll handle the press differently, focusing on things that might have not gone their way. I think Pep is excellent at moving on from the result of a game, good or bad.

Michael in Methley: Arguably the biggest derby in world football today. Not in Manchester or Glasgow. It's Leeds United v Huddersfield Town.

I think that's going to a tough sell this side of the Pennines, Michael.

  5. Team newspublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

Man Utd v Man City (12:30 BST)

    Phil McNulty

This highly-anticipated Manchester derby sees plenty of new faces - with City manager Pep Guardiola giving an instant debut to new goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, brought in from Barcelona to replace Joe Hart after he was marginalised under the new regime.

John Stones gets his first taste of this fixture while Kelechi Iheanacho gets the vote from Guardiola to replace suspended Sergio Aguero. Nolito also makes his derby debut.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will be relying heavily on Zlatan Ibrahimovic but he makes two changes as Juan Mata and Antony Martial go out, with summer signing from Borussia Dortmund Henrikh Mkhitaryan getting his first start. Jesse Lingard also plays while there are derby debuts for Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly. Marcus Rashford is on the bench.

  7. 'Let's see if they bring the full-backs'published at 11:44 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

Man Utd v Man City (12:30 BST)

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "Let's see if City bring the full-backs inside or not, that's the thinking behind my team. I want them to bring them.

"We have fast players, good at attacking spaces. Let's see. Our idea of playing is the same whoever plays in the wide positions. I am really happy with what the team are doing.

"If you have dominance in the game and a considerable number of corners and free-kicks then probably yes, our height can be important, but they know how to defend. They are strategically very good.

"I don't know if Guardiola agrees with me but it is about the players. Yes we do our homework but in the 90 minutes it is about attitude. We want to win but sometimes you play amazingly well and don't win."

  8. "We have to control everything"published at 11:43 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: "Iheanacho is our striker, I am excited for him. He can play there, we had other options but our striker is Iheanacho. He is with us, I have faith.

"Claudio is an experienced goalkeeper, he knows what is going on. Kolarov is strong in the air and we need that, and Zabaleta was in Argentina this week with a lot of travel.

"I hope for the best game possible for all the people around the world. We have a plan and our opponents have another. Whoever can do that better will win. We have to control everything."

  9. 'How many Mancunians are involved today?'published at 11:40 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

Man Utd v Man City (12:30 BST)

    Chris Waddle
Former England winger at Old Trafford for 5 live Sport

In my opinion a game like today's isn't nearly as big a deal for the players as it is for the fans. For the players getting off the coach this is just another fixture. Because, let's be honest, how many Mancunians are involved today?

The players will be up for it because of where the sides are in the league. So that's where the rivalry is, nothing to do with geography.

  10. 'Things have changed in recent years'published at 11:38 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

Man Utd v Man City (12:30 BST)

    BBC Radio 5 live

Sam Wallace, Chief football writer for The Daily Telegraph: "You can certainly make the argument that this is now the biggest game in British football.

"Things have changed in recent years, because before the 2000s this was often a very one-sided game. City struggled; I remember seeing Jon Macken score once in a Manchester derby. He was good striker, but nowhere near the quality on show today. So this is the marquee game now in English football."

  11. 'Jose has gone more defensive'published at 11:36 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

Man Utd v Man City (12:30 BST)

Iheanacho plays well whenever he comes on. He's got pace and will cause problems, but he does make mistakes. But he's a young player still learning.

Typical Mourinho, he's gone more defensive. You'll see United sitting back, ensuring City don't have space whenever they cross over the halfway line.

There is clearly a market for half and half scarves, otherwise they would not exist. But on a day like today, the overwhelming majority of fans are either blue or red, with not much room in the middle.

  14. 'A dream come true'published at 11:31 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

Man Utd v Man City (12:30 BST)

Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho: "It means a lot to me to play in the Manchester derby, it's a dream come true. The way we train, it gives me a lot of confidence to play.

"It would be a great feeling to score."

Manchester United last year, they were not a team that many feared. What Jose Mourinho has done is brought that fear back with some key signings.

Guardiola has been shrewd. Ilkay Gundogan coming in has added creativity in midfield, which they were missing.

If I had to pick I would say that United had the better transfer window.

Man Utd v Man City (12:30 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Old Trafford

There is a real crackle of anticipation around Old Trafford for the first Manchester derby of the season and the long-awaited managerial meeting between United's new man in charge Jose Mourinho and his old adversary Pep Guardiola, the man City want to bring the Premier League title back to The Etihad.

The sideshow of the managers will soon be replaced by action on the pitch - although Mourinho wants some help from off the pitch as he writes in his match notes: "I always love to say that as a supporter, you can watch the game or play the game. Today I ask that you play with us and together we can enjoy a very special match."
