  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 56 mins

    Northern Ireland 1-0 San Marino

San Marino make a change, presumably it's a tactical reshuffle after their sending off. Defender Davide Cesarini replaces midfielder Adolfo Hirsch.

That was brilliant defending. If he missed that then Magennis sticks it in the net.

    Northern Ireland 1-0 San Marino

San Marino defender Fabio Vitaioli does brilliantly to turn Jamie Ward's cross over his bar. Had he missed it, Josh Magennis would have made it 2-0.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:53 British Summer Time 8 October 2016

    Northern Ireland 1-0 San Marino

San Marino losing their heads now. Marco Berardi was booked for a foul seconds after that Mirko Palazzi red card. And now captain Matteo Vitaioli is in the book, for a bad challenge on Oliver Norwood.

It looks like Berardi's yellow card might have been wrongly awarded, it seems Alessandro Della Valle actually made the foul.

    What a silly, silly, player.

It was stupid. As soon as Palazzi did it he must have been sure he was going to get a second yellow.

  7. RED CARDpublished at 49 mins

    Northern Ireland 1-0 San Marino

Oh this is crazy. San Marino are down to 10 men. Mirko Palazzi tries to block goalkeeper Michael McGovern as he throws the ball clear and he gets a second booking from the referee. He's off!

    Good strike by Ward.

It was straight at the keeper but it came at him with a little bit of pace and he dealt with it well.

The 18,000-plus supporters at Windsor Park dispel any lingering nerves as they complete an ear-busting half-time repertoire and settle down for what they hope will be a goal-laden second half.

San Marino get the second half under way. No changes at the break.

    Slovenia 0-0 Slovakia

    Alasdair Lamont

The home team have been the better side but haven't been able to make the breakthrough in a match that hasn't exactly oozed quality. It took a marvellous instinctive save by Matus Kozacik to keep the scoreline blank just before half time though. Roman Bezjak got the break of the ball inside the Slovakian penalty area but the keeper managed to push his goal-bound shot against the bar.

Northern Ireland supporters are just happy to be ahead at half-time at Windsor Park after an indifferent first-half performance from their side.

The party atmosphere which accompanied the pre-match 'Lap of Legends' and the official opening of the new stadium subsided somewhat as the home side struggled to break down their opponents.

Relief was the overriding emotion when Steven Davis broke the deadlock. Hopefully Michael O'Neill's half-time team talk will inspire his team to greater efforts and the comfortable victory the fans expected prior to the game will materialise.

  18. Elsewhere in Europe...published at 20:38 British Summer Time 8 October 2016

Tonight's goals elsewhere in Europe are brought to you by Bayern Munich.

The net has bulged on just three occasions, with Thomas Muller putting Germany 1-0 up against Czech Republic, while a Robert Lewandowski brace has Poland leading 2-0 against Denmark.

Slovenia versus Slovakia - in the countries English people sometimes mix up derby - is goalless.

Andrew Priestley: Steven Davis is a Rolls Royce of a midfielder. He links play together so well, dictating play from centre midfield.

JavelBleach: Hmm. #NI should be 4-up on #SanMarino. Can't let those chances slip away; just inviting SM to counter for an equaliser.
