    Northern Ireland 2-0 Norway

Chris Brunt goes for the old Arsenal corner tactic - ping to the near post for the flick on, with someone steaming in behind to meet it.

Unfortunately they forgot about the third bit. No-one is there to head to ball goalwards as Norway shank clear.

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Norway

The set-piece is cleared by the Norway defence - but only partially. The ball rattles around the box like a pinball, pinging off Norwegian heads like they are metal flippers. It eventually goes out for another home corner..

    Northern Ireland wake up. Corner...

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Norway

Norway race out of the blocks quicker than Usain Bolt. They've had a rocket from Lars Lagerback no doubt.

A long throw-in is not dealt with properly by the home defence, a moment of concern as the ball drops to Josh King. But the Bournemouth forward can't hit the target.

Watching from high up in the South Stand you witness the relentless energy and constant movement of this Northern Ireland team.

Two clinical strikes had the hosts perfectly placed at the break and there's been little to cheer for a small pocket of Norway fans.

More of the same in the second half will send most of this 18,161 crowd home very happy indeed.

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Norway

Right then. Erasure greets the reappearance of the two teams at Windsor Park. Don't hear enough of Erasure these days. Shame.

Northern Ireland not showing a little respect to Norway. Ahem.

  7. Dutch sack Blindpublished at 20:44 British Summer Time 26 March 2017

Danny Blind lost as many tournament qualifiers in nine games as Dutch manager as the previous four managers combined in 58 games.

  8. Dutch sack Blindpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 26 March 2017

Some breaking news from across the North Sea...

Netherlands have sacked their manager Danny Blind after their loss to Bulgaria yesterday. The 2014 World Cup semi-finalists are fourth in their qualifying group, six points of leaders France.

Louis van Gaal is still without a job...

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 26 March 2017

    Scotland 0-0 Slovenia

The news isn't so promising for the Scottish folk. Still goalless over at Hampden in what Gordon Strachan has described as a "must-win" match.

Although how the hosts aren't ahead is anyone's guess. Leigh Griffiths smashing the bar from about three yards didn't help matters...

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Norway

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

That was an excellent half for Northern Ireland. They had five minutes when they dropped off the pace a little but and Norway did come close when they hit the crossbar. In terms of what they have created for themselves it was very very little. Outside of that it's been all Northern Ireland. Steven Davies has been fantastic and the defence have dealt with every shot, cross and throw that they've faced.

  11. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 26 March 2017

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Norway

Told you. All comfortable for Northern Ireland so far. They're well on their way to moving back up to second place in Group C.

Norway don't look like scoring before the half-time whistle. There, I've said it.

Can Norway claw their way into the game from this set-piece? Nope. Northern Ireland stand firm and clear.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 43 mins

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Norway

This is getting tasty. A couple of meaty tackles go flying in, Northern Ireland winger Stuart Dallas being the man facing a rebuke. His name is the first scribbled down by the referee. Free-kick about 30 yards out for Norway...

  16. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Norway

Norway have the cutting edge of a wooden spatula. A spell of possession for the away side, but only around the halfway line.

  17. 'Why are they marking space?'published at 40 mins

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Norway

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

I hope Northern Ireland can get a few more corners as the game goes on. Norway have adopted this famous Liverpool style of zonal marking. I was never a big fan of that and I remember one manager told us that space never scores a goal, so why are they marking space?

  18. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Norway

Gareth McAuley looks like he has shaken off that knock. Amazing how you don't feel pain as much after a goal for your team.

The big centre-back goes up for the set-piece meeting it with a header that is blocked. Craig Cathcart fires over the rebound.

The noise level inside Windsor Park has cranked up a decibel or 10. Northern Ireland passing the ball around confidently, Norway barely allowed a kick.
