  1. 'Think it was my first touch'published at 19:21 British Summer Time 26 March 2017

    England 2-0 Lithuania

England goalscorer Jamie Vardy, speaking to ITV Sport: "I think the goal was my first touch. I just finished off a good move.

"The manager wanted me to break the lines, force them back and open up the channels.

"Teams come here to sit back and it is up to us to break them down. We've got to do that to get where we want to be."

  2. 'I had to keep my emotions in at the beginning'published at 19:17 British Summer Time 26 March 2017

England striker Jermain Defoe speaking to ITV Sport:  "Yeah it's good to be back. Just to win the game was important and we did that. It's hard to put in words really to be back. I had to keep my emotions in at the beginning with little Bradley Lowery with me. You can imagine how I felt doing that having done it with my club as well. Just to be back playing with the lads felt good."

[On staying in the squad for the next qualifier against Scotland] "Obviously I've got to go back to my club and make sure we finish the season strong. Like I've always done, I'll keep my head down and see what happens."

Northern Ireland v Norway (19:45 BST)

Here's a reminder of what is at stake for the Northern Irish tonight.

A win will be just the ticket. A ticket to the 2018 World Cup play-offs perhaps?

Michael O'Neill's side are second in Group C, way adrift of leaders Germany, but a win against Norway will consolidate their place behind the world champions.

Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill makes four changes from November's win over Azerbaijan. There's a new forward pairing of Conor Washington and Jamie Ward, replacing the injured Josh Magennis and Kyle Lafferty, who has rarely featured for Norwich City this season.

Defender Craig Cathcart returns from a groin injury after missing the opening four qualifiers and Stuart Dallas takes over from Corry Evans in midfield.

While we continue to mop up all the reaction at Wembley, we'll also be building up to Northern Ireland v Norway and Scotland v Slovenia.

Let's start with a look at the team news from Windsor Park...

  8. 'Why not start Rashford?'published at 19:02 British Summer Time 26 March 2017

    England 2-0 Lithuania

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

75,000 England fans were at Wembley and they want to be entertained. It's expensive going to football matches. Why not start Rashford? He was the most direct player on the pitch when he came on. It's pleasing for Defoe to get his goal but why not play these attacking players?

  9. 'Job done'published at 19:00 British Summer Time 26 March 2017

    England 2-0 Lithuania

    Danny Mills
Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Satisfactory overall for England. It was really pleasing for Defoe. The script was set, he led the team out and got a poacher's goal in the right place at the right time and it was a fantastic start for him after being out for so long.

After that we thought England would go on and put Lithuania to the sword but they didn't really. They stuttered and stumbled but never really kicked on. They went on to get the second goal but even then didn't kick on.

Satisfactory, job done, move on to the Scotland game.

Shall we play a bit of 'manager interview' bingo?

    "Professional performance."

"The win is the most important thing."

"We did what we had to do."

"Lithuania were well organised and hard to break down."

    "Jermain is a born finisher."

That's my guess at the Gareth Southgate full house. Any more?

    Job done.

England win to go five points clear at the top of World Cup Qualifying Group F. Another step on the seemingly-inevitable journey to Russia.

  13. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 90+3 mins

    England 2-0 Lithuania

Half hearted appeal by Marcus Rashford after he tumbles over a Lithuania leg. Not enough contact for me. Or, more importantly, for the ref.

  14. Postpublished at 90+2 mins

    England 2-0 Lithuania

England knocking the ball around comfortably, almost opening up the Lithuania defence through Ryan Bertrand down the left. But his cutback towards Adam Lallana is blocked.

  15. INJURY TIMEpublished at 90+1 mins

    England 2-0 Lithuania

Three minutes of stoppage time. Three minutes too much for one of my yawning colleagues. Not a classic.

  16. Postpublished at 90 mins

    England 2-0 Lithuania

If England are going to bag a third then they had better be quick.

Marcus Rashford fancies sticking his name on the scoresheet, cutting in from the left, but being defeated by a tight angle as Ernestas Setkus saves.

Goal and the man of the match award. Not a bad afternoon for Jermain Defoe on his England comeback.

    Terry Butcher
Ex-England captain at Wembley Stadium for 5 live Sport

Gareth Southgate in his programme notes said he wanted to entertain and get the crowd off their feet. They certainly haven't been off their feet other than the two goals. But qualifying is qualifying and you take the three points and move on.

  19. Postpublished at 87 mins

    England 2-0 Lithuania

This is meandering towards a routine home win. As it has been for about an hour. England set to go five points clear, barring a ridiculous Lithuania comeback of course...
