Brilliant from Rashford. Henderson won the ball and fed Rashford. Dele Alli makes a run that takes Skrtel out of the way. He finished sublimely.

It came from a central position. He has done that so well, coming in from the left side.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:02 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Czech Republic

Northern Ireland make a change, Rangers defender Lee Hodson replacing striker Conor Washington. Can't blame Michael O'Neill for deciding to shore things up.

The Czechs had started to dominate.

To demonstrate that, Michal Krmencik has a header saved by Michael McGovern.

    Marcus Rashford (59 mins)

England were absolutely terrible for the first 30 minutes but credit where it's due, they have been well on top since the break and now lead.

A fine goal too. Jordan Henderson wins the ball back in midfield and finds Marcus Rashford in a central area, maybe 25 yards out. Harry Kane's run opens up a channel and Rashford hits a powerful shot into the bottom corner. His second England goal.

Jonny Evans clear a corner and he's caught by Tomas Kalas. Referee lets play go on and Czech keeper Tomas Vaclik comes flying 50 yards out of goal to deny NI a clear run-in on goal.

Kalas is booked after the ball goes out of play.

Jack Allen: I can only assume that Henderson is a lovely bloke, or a wizard, because I can't fathom how he gets a game otherwise

Simon Latson: We should admit that England are a mediocre side at best and give Southgate time to build a decent team from the U21's up

Simon Turner: Better by England, they're showing some actual hustle.

  7. CLOSE!published at 20:59 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    England 1-1 Slovakia

Good play again from Harry Kane, strongarming his way past a challenge on the right-hand side of the goal and lashing the ball across at waist height, Dele Alli could have a tap-in but he can't adjust his feet and it bounces off him and away.

Alli then launches a wild shot over the top when he had men over...

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:57 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    England 1-1 Slovakia

Slovakia have been stuck in their own half since the break but that's almost a second goal on the break, Marek Hamsik picks out a gem of a crossfield pass from left to right, Adam Nemec takes the ball down on his chest beautifully and then lashes in a shot which needs a firm hand over the top from Joe Hart.

    Thirty-five minutes to go.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:57 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Czech Republic

Vladimir Darida plays an inswinging cross but Michael McGovern is able to hold onto it.

Northern Ireland have only conceded goals in one of their seven and a half (and a bit) qualifiers so far.

The Czechs make a double change, forward Jan Kliment comes on for Ladislav Krejci and number 10 Josef Husbauer replaces Jakub Jankto.

    Dele AlliImage source, Reuters

A chalk and cheese feel to the two halves for England so far, with the Three Lions having 72% of possession since half time. Dele Alli weaves into the area again, the number 10 miles more threatening since half-time, and he tees up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to have a low shot saved easily.

Is there a second England goal on the way?

    Northern Ireland 2-0 Czech Republic

The Czechs need to score three goals to keep their World Cup hopes alive. Do they reach a stage where they have to take more risks? We are eight minutes into the second half.

The visitors are putting together a series of attacks now, but each time the green wall at the back stand firm.

He makes things happen, Marcus Rashford, who has been much better since switching to the left wing. He dances into the area from wide out, looks up and flashes the ball across the goalmouth which needs a save from Martin Dubravka.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's career in a nutshell rather, great pace down the right to get away from his man and then a fruitless ball into the middle. Better from England though.

  20. Encouraging signs?published at 20:48 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    England 1-1 Slovakia

    Ian Dennis
Senior football reporter at Wembley for 5 live

There were encouraging signs towards the end of the first-half that England need to build on in the second period. For the opening half hour it looked ominous, no rhythm, no control and Slovakia were far superior.
