England need more from Dele Alli. He needs to create more and have better quality on the ball.

Northern Ireland fans are chanting 'we're going to win the group'. As things stand, they'll be guaranteed second spot - and remain five points behind Germany, who they play next.

Some of the England supporters have taken to knocking around an inflatable football behind the goal rather than watch the game. The home fans are very subdued.

Some are trying to get behind England but there will almost certainly be some booing at half-time if it stays 1-0.

England can't even throw hopeful balls into the box. Literally. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain drifts another cross clean out of play.

This is not working. If Gareth Southgate wants to get a result from here he's got to change something.

    Northern Ireland 1-0 Czech Republic

This would be Northern Ireland's fifth win in a row. They had never managed four before last week. It's hard to put into words how good a job Michael O'Neill has done in the past four years.

Still early days in this game though.

We just saw a cross from Oxlade-Chamberlain that floated out of play. We can't just throw hopeful balls into the box.

    England 0-1 Slovakia

England haven't lost a qualifier at home for 10 years. That puts tonight into context. Joe Hart hasn't had a shot to save since the goal but England do not look like scoring any time soon either to be honest.

This is a very poor showing.

That is what we needed, it is totally against the run of play.

What a great ball back in by Conor McLaughlin, keeping the move alive.

Czech Republic defender Theodor Gebre Selassie played them all on side, Jonny Evans got there to it first and got his head on to it.

The goalkeeper was caught in no-man's land.

England are letting the UK down at the moment. Scotland and Northern Ireland both lead.

If Northern Ireland do win tonight, it means that Germany can't qualify this evening.

  12. goal

GOAL - Northern Ireland 1-0 Czech Republicpublished at 20:12 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    Jonny Evans (28 mins)

HUGE. The Czechs half-clear a corner to Oliver Norwood, who heads the ball back into the danger zone. Defender Theodor Gebre Selassie was almost standing on his goalline so Jonny Evans - six yards from goal - is onside. He has his back to goal but just flicks a header over the keeper and into the net.

A slight increase in tempo and intensity from England as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wins a corner, but it's punched away by Martin Dubravka.

Slovakia still controlling possession but their lion's share is slightly down to 65% now.

England have been completely thrown by Slovakia's early goal and the manner in which the visitors have set about this World Cup qualifier.

Slovakia are slick, with Marek Hamsik and Stanislav Lobotka running the show. England, in contrast, are laboured and pedestrian.

Terry Mahoney: Not just based on this game so far but based on how they play, England would be relegated if they played in the Premier League

Rob Bull: People are trashing Joe Hart, definitely not his fault for that goal though

Charles Davis: Joe Hart, no1 English goalkeeper 🤔 surely 4th or 5th: Butland, Pickford, Heaton, Forster, so many options

Kris Jefferson: Nobody pointing out that for that Slovakia goal how far out of position Walker was! He was halfway up the field!
