  1. CLOSE!published at 20:26 British Summer Time 5 October 2017

    Northern Ireland 0-2 Germany

There was the chance for Northern Ireland!

Josh Magennis whips a superb cross into the box which is too high for Kyle Lafferty, but Corry Evans is at the back post.

It is a poor first touch, which means the ball is not fully under control and he has to poke a weak shot at goal, but Marc-Andre ter Stegen can push the ball away.

What an opportunity to get back into the game.

A very disappointing first half, to be honest. England got behind the backline early on which was encouraging but nothing has happened since then. Slovenia have found it very easy. Gareth Southgate may well have to put another striker on to give them something.

  3. Elsewhere in European qualifiers...published at 20:24 British Summer Time 5 October 2017

Romania have taken the lead over Kazakhstan through Constantin Budescu.

Denmark, Malta and Norway are all still winning too.

That means we have had a goal in all of the European qualifying matches elsewhere.

We just need goals from Scotland and England now...

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:22 British Summer Time 5 October 2017

    Scotland 0-0 Slovakia

Another good attack from Scotland culminates with Leigh Griffiths looking to place his curling strike into the bottom corner from 18 yards.

It is a good effort but once again Scotland are denied by a one-handed save from Martin Dubravka.

    England 0-0 Slovenia

Kyle Walker wins the right to take a free-kick in a good area for England. He manages to evade the wall but can only smash over. England have not been good, but you've all heard this record before.

They'll probably score a couple after 65 minutes?

10 minutes to half time, can Northern Ireland just nick one before the interval?

They will need to get out of their own half first.

  7. Germans in controlpublished at 20:20 British Summer Time 5 October 2017

    Northern Ireland 0-2 Germany

BBC Sport NI's Richard Petrie at Windsor Park: "Germany are in complete control in Belfast and seemingly on their way to a ninth straight victory of the campaign.

"Dominant in possession and passing and moving with immense accuracy and speed, they could be much more than 2-0 to the good by this stage.

"A win tonight would extend their unbeaten run to 18 games - their last defeat a 2-0 loss to France at the semi-final stage of Euro 2016."

And Mats Hummels gets forward for a corner, which Toni Kroos curls in, but the defender nods over the crossbar from 12 yards out.

He knows he should have done better, he was unmarked.

    Scotland 0-0 Slovakia

A nervous moment for Scotland as a rare Slovakia break forwards ends with Craig Gordon having to save from Adam Nemec - a good save, but the offside flag was up.

  10. 'Not exciting enough'published at 20:19 British Summer Time 5 October 2017

    England 0-0 Slovenia

    Phil Neville
Former England & Man Utd defender on BBC Radio 5 live at Wembley

I have been a bit disappointed so far. It's not been exciting enough. When Rashford, Sterling or Oxlade-Chamberlain have got the ball they haven't looked to go on and beat their man enough and produce an end product. But it's central midfield where the problem is, too many touches and England are allowing Slovenia just to get their shape back.

This England side is just so dull.

Ian Shepherd: Top players missing in this team atm; Wilshere, Welbeck, Lallana, Alli, Barkley. Those five make a difference.

All very flat at Wembley. England lacking the creation from midfield to provide the supply line for the danger men Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling.

The main sound around Wembley at the moment is that of idle chatter.

Kyle Walker is caught a bit late and Gareth Southgate sends Kieran Trippier out to warm up. It's safe to see the midfield axis of Henderson and Dier is not to Chris Waddle's taste.

Raheem Sterling has improved in this role, but he is not clever enough to take up the positions as a number 10. Coming from wide areas, though, he can be devastating.

Josh Earl: As much as I like Harry Kane, he can't take free kicks.

Luke: I think we should ban Spurs players playing for England at Wembley. They are all scared and useless at Wembley!

Neil Worrall: If you thought 'IT' was frightening then don't watch England playing it out from the back - you'll never sleep again!

  20. Oblak = top classpublished at 20:13 British Summer Time 5 October 2017

    England 0-0 Slovenia

    Phil Neville
Former England & Man Utd defender on BBC Radio 5 live at Wembley

That's a good save from Slovenia goalkeeper Jan Oblak. An injection of speed and quality from England at least and it is a decent effort from Jordan Henderson. I've seen a lot of Oblak while at Atletico Madrid and he's a top class goalkeeper.
