The London Stadium is filling up nicely as the players warm up. The Hammers have sold some 50,000 season tickets for the season ahead and vice-chairman Karen Brady reckons the club are about to enter an exciting new era.

"I’ve said it before and I shall say it again, this is a game changer for our football club. An exciting new dawn," she wrote on the club's website. , external

"The stage is set. It’s time to let the football do the talking."

  2. 'Shell shocked'published at 19:33 British Summer Time 4 August 2016

London Evening Standard sports reporter John Dillon, speaking on BBC Radio London: "I'm a bit shell shocked. The old West Ham has gone. This is completely new. I doubt there has been a football club that has had such a dramatic transformation. This is about as far removed from Upton Park as there could be."

Two changes for West Ham as they seek to overturn a 2-1 deficit.

Goalkeeper Adrian is replaced by Darren Randolph while 17-year-old midfielder Reece Oxford starts in place of Pedro Obiang.

NK Domzale include Matic Crnic, who scored both his team's goals in Slovenia.

West Ham XI: Randolph, Antonio, Oxford, Reid, Byram, Feghouli, Noble, Nordtveit, Kouyate, Valencia, Carroll. Subs: Adrian, Obiang, Fletcher, Burke, Quina, Page, Cullen.

  5. 'Biggest game of their careers'published at 19:28 British Summer Time 4 August 2016

West Ham v NK Domzale (19:45 BST)

NK Domzale manager Luka Elsner says his players must not be intimidated by playing in front of a 50,000-plus crowd at West Ham's new ground.

The club from Slovenia lead 2-1 from the first leg and will advance to the play-off round if they can stop West Ham from winning again

"It will be something big for our players, the biggest in their career," he said. "They will never had played in front of such a crowd. We want that good memory to remain a good memory and not something that went bad.

"To do that they must focus on the game. The element of surprise has gone."

As a Huddersfield fan, I remember my first game at what was then called the McAlpine Stadium.

When it opened back in 1994, only three of the stands were built so to cover the gap left behind one of the goals the club stuck up a load of cricket sightscreens.

Now, the problem with cricket sightscreens is that they are white. A goal frame is also white. That meant the goal posts were pretty much camouflaged and we lost 1-0 to Wycombe.

It can take a while for teams to get used to their new surroundings - just ask Southampton and Arsenal.

The Gunners won just half of their opening 10 fixtures at Emirates Stadium after moving there in 2006, while Southampton lost their first five Premier League games after making the switch from the Dell to St Mary's in 2001.

Fail to win their opening game at the London Stadium, and West Ham's European adventure will be over.

The running track has been covered by some green felt. Never usually a fan of running tracks inside a football stadium but I'll reserve judgement until after their first couple of games here.

Want to watch West Ham's first game at the London Stadium? Well, unless you are there then you are out of luck because it's not on the telly anywhere.

Instead, you'll have to make do with my general waffling, or you can let BBC Radio London visualise it for you with live commentary. Click the live coverage tab on this page to listen.

West Ham v NK Domzale (1-2 agg)

Win this game and West Ham are into the Europa League play-off round. Get through that and they are into the group stage itself.

The Hammers lost at this stage of the competition last year and Slaven Bilic clearly wants to go further this time. He's picked a strong team to face NK Domzale.

  15. Elsewhere in the Europa Leaguepublished at 19:08 British Summer Time 4 August 2016

West Ham are not the only team in Europa League third-qualifying round second leg (what a mouthful!) action tonight.

Aberdeen are in Slovenia to play NK Maribor. The two sides drew 1-1 in last week's first leg and you can find out how the Dons get in a our live text commentary page on that game here.

I'd called West Ham's former ground Upton Park for years but suddenly it became the Boleyn Ground in recent seasons (yes, I know officially it was called the Boleyn Ground when it opened in 1904 but Upton Park was more widely used).

A ball hasn't been kicked yet in east London and we appear to have dual stadium name shenanigans already with it being called Olympic Stadium and London Stadium. The latter is apparently what it should be called.
