    Michy Batshuayi (41 mins)

This guy knows his way to the back of the net.

It's summer signing Michy Batshuayi again for Chelsea, tapping in from close range after good work from Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The £32m fee for the Belgian could turn out to be a bargain.

    Everton 1-0 Yeovil

One-way traffic at Goodison. Everton are trundling along nicely, Yeovil are starting to stutter.

Yannick Bolasie has been a handful on his first Toffees start and appeals for a penalty when he goes down after being tackled by the brilliantly-named Bevis Mugabi. Ref Chris Kavanagh is having none of it though.

    Chelsea 2-1 Bristol Rovers

Oh my! Bristol Rovers are oh so close to equalising but Ellis Harrison can't put his header on target.

    Peterborough 0-1 Swansea

Approaching half-time in this game and Swansea still lead by that Jay Fulton goal after 15 minutes. The Swans almost had a second when Nathan Dyer was put through on goal, but keeper Mark Tyler was quick off his line to make the save.

    Watford 0-0 Gillingham

Stuart Nelson is the only man stopping Watford take the lead. The Gillingham keeper races off his line to block Matej Vydra's shot, then smothers Troy Deeney's follow-up effort.

    Zander Diamond (35 mins)

League One side 1-0 Premier League side. Is this the upset of the night?

Defender Zander Diamond trots up for a corner and rises highest at the back post to powerfully head in from Brendan Moloney's cross.

    Peter Hartley (35 mins)

What was I saying about this game being over as a contest? Bristol Rovers are not done yet as Peter Hartley heads Chris Lines' cross into the far corner. One shot, one goal and a lovely one it was too.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Blackpool

I'm not sure what the odds are on Christian Benteke bagging tonight, but they've got to be short. The Palace striker almost opens his account on his debut... again! This time, the Belgian cushions Yohan Cabaye's ball with his chest then fires one just wide. And that's pretty much the last action of the first half.

  9. goal

GOAL - Stevenage 0-2 Stokepublished at 20:18 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Phil Bardsley (32 mins)

    Smash. What a hit.

Stoke full-back Phil Bardsley with the goal of the evening so far, picking the ball up about 30 yards out and crashing a strike with his weaker left foot into the top corner of the net.

    Victor Moses (31 mins)

Two goals in two minutes and you would have to say that this game is probably over as a contest as a result. Victor Moses gets this one, stabbing in from Pedro's cross.

And Wes Thomas has equalised for League One club Oxford United at home to Championship's second-place side Brighton.

    Michy Batshuayi (29 mins)

Chelsea get the breakthrough and no-one can say it hasn't been coming. It's Michy Batshuayi who gets it, sweeping home Nemanja Matic's cross to grab a goal on his first start for his new club.

GOAL - Everton 1-0 Yeovilpublished at 20:14 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Aaron Lennon (30 mins)

Imagine there's no Lennon, it's easy if you try. It'd be goalless at Goodison if it wasn't for Aaron Lennon. The one-time England winger sidefoots in from eight yards after meeting Ross Barkley's cutback.

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Blackpool

Christian Benteke has seen plenty of the ball on his Palace debut, reckon the big man has a goal in him tonight. Not yet though. The £27m signing misses another opportunity. Not far off the break in this 7:30pm kick-off.

    Adama Diomande (26 mins)

Hull were behind for all of two minutes as the impressive Adama Diomande brings them level, stooping to head home Jarrod Bowen's cross at the far post. As you were.

Well, well, well! Hull dominated the start of this game but are caught out by a long-range strike by Jake Taylor that flies into the top corner.

  20. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Chelsea 0-0 Bristol Rovers

Chelsea are cranking things up a gear now as Ruben Loftus-Cheek gets his head down, switches on the afterburners and charges at the Bristol Rovers defence. Loftus-Cheek dinks the ball away from his marker before firing at goal from outside the box, but the ball bounces back off the far post.
