  1. 'We weren't expecting this kind of performance'published at 18:59 British Summer Time 13 August 2016

    FT: Newcastle 1-2 Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield served up an early-season shock as substitute Jack Payne struck a late winner against Newcastle in front of a sell-out St James' Park crowd.

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez: "We knew Huddersfield would be difficult to break down but we didn't play at the level we wanted to.

"We improved a lot in the second half but it's really disappointing.

"The players on the pitch they were trying, they are good players but they can do much better. The only positive today was the fans."

Sheffield Wednesday almost score a wonderful team goal, as a neat passing move on the break culminates with Barry Bannan bearing down on goal after a back flick from Gary Hooper was placed perfectly into his path, but his left-footed shot from the edge of the area is well saved by Michael McGovern.
