Bolton remain the only EFL team with a 100% record after victory over Fleetwood, while Scunthorpe are on their coattails in second after a 5-0 thrashing of Gillingham.

Morecambe sit pretty at the top of the early League Two table after a narrow win over Yeovil. But as we all know, these tables are pretty much pointless right now. Sorry Shrimps fans.

  3. In the Championshippublished at 19:37 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

So to recap, Huddersfield are two points clear at the top of the Championship table after a dramatic 2-1 victory over Barnsley - Jonathan Hogg scoring his first league goal for the Terriers late on to win it.

Those are celebrations that are fitting of top of the league, where Huddersfield sit after a 2-1 win over Barnsley.

Huddersfield head coach David Wagner told BBC Radio Leeds:

"It's a picture of the quality and the togetherness we now have that everyone who starts and plays from the bench knows their job.

"We'd like to keep it going, but we can never promise the result. We can only promise fight and a working attitude.

"We are very fit and able to change the games in the last 20 minutes. The atmosphere is very good after the Barnsley game.

"We say in Germany 'only the hard worker has luck' and against Barnsley we had luck, but if anyone deserves it, then I think it is this squad."

Despite creating chances throughout the game, the Robins did not take a point from the match.

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson: "There were loads of positives for us. We lost to one quality finish after being caught out by a great ball.

"We have a bit of work to do with our forward play. The strikers need to know when the ball is going into the box so they can time their movement and we took too many touches at times. But I can't be too critical because the players gave everything.

"It's hard to talk know because I so wanted to give our supporters a win but when I analyse things later I know I am going to be a lot happier."

  7. 'It was a step forward'published at 19:28 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

After a difficult start to the season, Dwight Gayle's goal gave Rafael Benitez's side back to back wins.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez: "The clear message to the players is they need to work as hard as they did and then use the quality we have.

"It's great to have a team who can go forward and score goals but you also need organisation and team spirit to get results. For me, it was a step forward in the confidence of the players because we now know we can win games with our forward play or by defending strongly.

"Dwight Gayle is a clever footballer with good movement and he is a great finisher. We saw all those things and I am hoping he is a crucial player for us."

Just before we go, we'll bring you some reaction to some of today's earlier Championship fixtures.

  9. FULL-TIMEpublished at 19:21 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Derby 0-0 Aston Villa

After all the late drama in the EFL today I thought we might get some at the iPro tonight but it wasn't to be.

Villa hit the post twice in the first half but Derby were certainly best in the second half and neither can get the breakthrough.

    Derby 0-0 Aston Villa

Razza Camara wins another corner for his side and the diminutive winger is the target of Will Hughes' corner, but he can only head over the bar.

    Derby 0-0 Aston Villa

Will Hughes' corner is too deep and Villa manage to get Richard Keogh's header down clear. Not long left now.

Chris Martin's cross into the area is cleared for a corner by Villa defender Tommy Elphick...

Four minutes to be added on... will we have one final chance?

  14. Postpublished at 89 mins

    Derby 0-0 Aston Villa

Derby win a free-kick about 30 yards out and Chris Martin is the man who steps up to take it. It's pretty poor and the Coldplay lead signer holds his head in his hands.

  15. Postpublished at 87 mins

    Derby 0-0 Aston Villa

Derby keeper Scott Carson really takes a chance with Jordan Ayew closing him down but the Villa forward can only get a loose foot to it and the ball is cleared from danger.

    Derby 0-0 Aston Villa

We saw two penalties earlier today at Stoke for shirt-pulling and many would argue on that evidence, Derby could have had a penalty at the iPro.

Aly Cissokho is living dangerously, almost riping the shirt off Richard Keogh but none of the officials take any action.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 83 mins

    Derby 0-0 Aston Villa

    The substitute is subbed.

Libor Kozak, who came on in the first half for the injured Rudy Gestede, is replaced by Andre Green. Jordan Amavi also comes on in place of Jack Grealish.

  18. Postpublished at 82 mins

    Derby 0-0 Aston Villa

Jason Shackell flicks on a corner to Richard Keogh, but the Derby defender can only loop the ball over the bar.

  19. Postpublished at 80 mins

    Derby 0-0 Aston Villa

Bent is in on the action almost immediately, but Cyrus Christie's cross into the area is just too deep and the striker can't connect properly.

In Bent and Chris Martin they have some good options for balls into the area do Derby.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 77 mins

    Derby 0-0 Aston Villa

Darren Bent, bought for a fee reported to rise to £24m by Aston Villa in 2011, comes on in place of Tom Ince against his old club.
