  1. Leeds go closepublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Leeds United

First big chance for Leeds but Chris Wood can't hit the target with a header from Alex Mowatt's cross.

We're midway through the first half at Hillsborough. And although Leeds boss Garry Monk looks happy in this picture, I imagine his expression was somewhat different when he saw Wood's effort fly the wrong side of the right post.

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Leeds United

As ever, Leeds United are backed by a big away following, as evidenced by BBC Radio Leeds' Katherine Hannah.

They're making some noise too, helping to warm up the atmosphere at Hillsborough.

  3. CLOSE!published at 12:50 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Leeds United

    ForestieriImage source, Rex Features

Two big chances for Fernando Forestieri go begging.

First, the little striker prods wide from inside the box and then, moments later, he rounds Rob Green but his shot from a tight angle is cleared off the line by Liam Cooper.

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Leeds United

Almen Abdi heads well wide from Jack Hunt's cross as Wednesday create another opportunity, before Charlie Taylor is well placed to clear the danger as Steven Fletcher and Fernando Forestieri threaten on the break.

If this game remains goalless then Sheffield Wednesday have decent options off the bench.

And in Gary Hooper, they have a striker who seems to enjoy playing Leeds.

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Leeds United

Leeds have had slightly more possession so far but Sheffield Wednesday have gone closest.

Steven Fletcher earns the Owls a free-kick just outside the box but Ross Wallace's effort goes straight into the wall before his follow-up bobbles through to Rob Green in the Leeds goal.

Moments later Fernando Forestieri drags a low shot inches wide of the post.

If your team were a band, who would they be?

We have a carnival of football to bring you on a day where thousands have converged on Stafford and Chelmsford for V Festival in the hope of getting up close and personal with Justin Bieber, Rihanna and David Guetta, the man that gave us that Euro 2016 song that you can never get out of your head no matter how hard you try.

In light of Guetta's Euro 2016 offering, it got us thinking about how interlinked football and music are. So we're asking you today: If your EFL team were a band, who would they be and why?

For instance, you could be Status Quo because you are "going down, down, deeper and down", or maybe more Westlife, a team that has raised fans so high up they can stand on mountains...

Enterprising start from both sides. The Owls show their hand first but Almen Abdi's cross is held by Rob Green.

As play swings to the other end Chris Wood's cross is just too high for Marcus Antonsson.

Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds United (12:30 BAST)

Polite applause greets the teams as they make their way out of the tunnel - not normally the greeting you expect for a derby.

I'm sure the atmosphere will hot up once the action gets under way, which is only moments away.

According to BBC Radio Sheffield's Rob Staton, Sheffield Wednesday appear to be a bit superstitious ahead of this lunchtime's Yorkshire derby.

I know that elephants never forget but can anyone tell me why they might be so lucky?

Sorry Leeds fans, but these don't make pretty reading. But, in a perverse football fans' type of way, they will probably make Owls supporters just as worried.

    • The Owls have won two of their last three league games against Leeds at Hillsborough, netting eight goals without conceding in those two games.
    • Leeds haven’t kept a league clean sheet against Wednesday in any of their last nine games since a 1-0 win at Hillsborough in August 2006.
    • Sheffield Wednesday have lost just one of their last 22 league games at Hillsborough (inc. play-offs, W14 D7).
    • Should Leeds fail to win, it would be the second season in a row in which they’ve failed to win any of their first four fixtures.
  13. Pre-game analysispublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds United (12:30 BST)

BBC Radio Leeds commentator Adam Pope: "Leeds United head coach Garry Monk was calm, composed and focused in his press conference ahead of the trip to Sheffield Wednesday which betrayed the tabloid headlines later that day suggesting he had been on the verge of losing his job within two games of taking charge.

"The point against Fulham, asserted Monk, shows his side is making gradual improvement and he is delighted to welcome new signings midfielder Liam Bridcutt and defender Pontus Jansson into his squad. Bridcutt starts at Hillsborough but right-back Gaetano Berardi will again miss out with a hamstring injury.

"Monk, a former Sheffield Wednesday loanee, says the Owls are again promotion contenders but that he is lucky to have unity in his dressing room unlike the recent turmoil at Hillsborough which saw striker Fernando Forestieri refuse to play at Norwich."

As I say it's not all happening in the Championship, there's plenty to get our teeth into in Leagues One and Two.

Early League One leaders Bolton put their 100% record on the line against unbeaten Fleetwood, third faces fourth as Scunthorpe entertain Gillingham, while AFC Wimbledon will be looking to pick up their first point of the season at Northampton, who have drawn all three of their games so far.

In League Two, early leaders Luton make the short trip to Stevenage, who have picked up just one point so far. Portsmouth will be looking for their first win of the campaign when unbeaten Colchester visit Fratton Park and Exeter will be hoping to get their season up and running after three straight losses at Accrington.
