  1. Derby 0-1 Newcastlepublished at 18:10 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

Newcastle made nothing of it, as you might have guessed from the lack of update.

Derby's composure and execution hasn't been too sharp in the last 10 minutes or so, as Richard Keogh slings a diagonal ball behind the line for a goal kick.

Magpies look a bit sharper at the moment, they're finding their flow. The fans singing Rafa Benitez's name to the tune of La Bamba. I think it's La Bamba anyway!

    QPR 1-1 Blackburn

Sam Gallagher's header rescued bottom-placed side Blackburn a point in a 1-1 draw at QPR.

    Blackburn manager Owen Coyle:

"Our first two games of the season were very poor but from there we have progressively got better with each game.

"Regardless of how the game went, if we continue to perform consistently like that we will win games and will move up the table.

"It's not about a knee-jerk reaction after four or five games. It's about 46 games and there's work to be done."

  3. Derby 0-1 Newcastlepublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

Mo Diame stalks around the midfield like one of those stilt walker things from Star Wars. He's a machine.

Ball into the Derby box was fairly tame, but Cyrus Christie coughs up a corner...

  4. Derby 0-1 Newcastlepublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

A marauding run from Cyrus Christie is wasted by a disappointing cross, Derby's best move for a while.

Newcastle are using Dwight Gayle as their outlet, in the same vein that Derby are with Ikechi Anya. Their impacts will be telling.

Like Nigel Pearson himself said, power and pace is vital in the modern game and both sides have it up front.

  6. Derby 0-1 Newcastlepublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

Newcastle are starting to find a bit of space in midfield now. Mind you, Paul Dummett didn't quite use the best of it when he clipped a ball behind for a goal kick to Derby a moment ago.

This will be encouraging for Rafael Benitez so far.

  7. "I wanted a win"published at 17:57 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

    Rotherham 2-2 Bristol City

    Lee JohnsonImage source, Rex Features

Bristol City came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw at struggling Rotherham.

Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson:

"You could look at it and think a draw is a good result. I wanted to win.

"We could have been demoralised but we kept going and kept believing. Unfortunately we couldn't win it.

"We're a good young side. We'll have dips but we've played great football and carved out so many chances."

  8. YELLOW CARD (Jonjo Shelvey)published at 17:57 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

    Derby 0-1 Newcastle

Bit of niggle between Jonjo Shelvey and Will Hughes - built on some robust tackling from both midfielders - ends with a late challenge by the former and a yellow card.

  9. Derby 0-1 Newcastlepublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

That was Yoan Gouffran's first Newcastle goal since January 2015. What a way to break your duck.

Just as I was bemoaning the lack of efforts on goal, a corner swings to the back post for Yoan Gouffran, who nails the perfect volley into the Derby net.

Breakthrough, and it's gone to Newcastle. It sounds like their media team didn't think much of the goal, mind you...

  11. Derby 0-0 Newcastlepublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

The early pace of the game has subsided somewhat, Derby being allowed to stroke the ball around on their home turf by Newcastle.

Dwight Gayle is outmuscled by Will Hughes as the Magpies seek an attacking response of their own.

Still no-one has had a real pop at goal yet...

Huddersfield extended their lead at the top of the Championship to four points with a 1-0 victory at Leeds.

Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner:

"We had good control over most of the 100 minutes we played today.

"Our togetherness, hard work and fighting attitude is nearly 100%, but we can still play better of course.

"At the moment, it is not comfortable to play against us.That's because of the character of this group."

Marcus Olsson appeals for a spot-kick after chasing a Craig Bryson through-ball for Derby. Darren Bond says no go.

Jamaal Lascelles gets his first jeers from the iPro Stadium crowd, the home contingent anyway.

  14. Derby 0-0 Newcastlepublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

You can hear the Newcastle contingent in full voice at the iPro early on here. They have the 'novelty' of some different away trips this season and have come in large numbers.

Derby belying their early season form by playing with some confidence, although neither keeper has been tested yet.

One thing Newcastle seem to still be getting used to about second-tier life is the-at times frenetic pace of the game.

Derby are very quick to close down midfield when the Newcastle players have their back to the Rams goal, some crisper passing might be required.

  16. Derby 0-0 Newcastlepublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

The set-piece comes to nothing and the home side clear.

Derby are already very quick to get the ball to Ikechi Anya, whose pace is an outlet.

Newcastle are looking to sweep the ball around and pick some gaps in the Derby defence.

We are under way, and Newcastle get the ball forward quickly.

Finely poised, this one, despite the home side's disappointing form - it has the feel of a big game.

  19. Pressure's on the newbiespublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 10 September 2016

    Derby v Newcastle (17:30 BST)

Derby have their big guns out there - Matej Vydra, James Wilson and Ikechi Anya - hoping for an immediate impact for a side with ONE goal in five league games.

Newcastle United have made a few additions too but Rafael Benitez has been reluctant to throw them in, though Dwight Gayle is back after concussion.
