    Middlesbrough v Watford (13:30 BST)

Watford team-mates Isaac Success and Sebastian Prodl are having a chat on the pitch.

Striker Success, with a shaved head round the sides but a spider-like hairstyle on top, listens as Prodl - and his man bun - explains tactics...or something else.

"So I sat in the chair and I told the barber I want a number two fade, so I can spike it at the top. He's got it all wrong though and left it too long."

    Middlesbrough v Watford (13:30 BST)

Goalkeeper Victor Valdes - formerly of Barcelona and Manchester United - is now in the neon kit of Middlesbrough and going through his warm-up at the Riverside Stadium.

Few would have thought his career would have taken him there.

Then again, they previously had Spaniard Gaizka Mendieta playing for them. A classy midfielder. That was a shock move from Lazio over a decade ago.

I think he still lives up there as well.

The Hornets have also conceded 26 goals during that period.

Boro front man Alvaro Negredo will be hoping he can add to his tally today. He's netted just once since joining from Valencia in the summer.

    Middlesbrough v Watford (13:30 BST)

It's 17th against 12th in this fixture, with Middlesbrough clinging on just one place above the relegation zone. I am surprised they have not performed better so far, but just one Premier League win in 12 shows the rut they are currently stuck in.

As for Watford, they had a slow start under new boss Walter Mazzarri, but have lost just once in their last four. Captain and main man Troy Deeney leads the line again.

    Middlesbrough v Watford (13:30 BST)

Middlesbrough make two changes from the team which drew with West Ham before the international break. They both come in attack, as Gaston Ramirez and Alvaro Negredo replace Viktor Fischer and Jordan Rhodes.

It's another member of the three at the back club in Watford, who also make two alterations. The superbly-named Isaac Success makes his first start up front, replacing the out of sorts Odion Ighalo. And at the back Miguel Britos is in for Juan Zuniga.

    Man City 1-1 Everton

Ross Barkley is an interesting one for Everton. I'm guessing everyone thought he would have thought he was going to be an absolute superstar when he first broke into the Premier League, and he won't have stopped being a classy player with an eye for goal, an eye for a pass.

The trouble is, football has become so disciplined. Managers want you to do exactly what they say. they don't want you to do things on the hoof to be overly expressive.

"You're in a system and you play to that system"

I suspect Barkley doesn't always stick to the plan and i think it's easier for a manager to think, "OK, I'll have a break from him now because its mucking things up".

When Pep Guardiola has the fire power up front like he has with Sergio Aguero - David Silva's playing really well - then they are going to be hard to beat.

They will be stopped in their tracks a few times or they'll have a bit of bad luck every now and again like they did yesterday, but they will out power teams.

  10. New York state of mindpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 16 October 2016

You may have seen the stange story recently about York City and their manager Jackie McNamara.

First the club said he would leave if they didn't win their next game. They drew and he stayed on.

Then they effectively made him caretaker manager, saying he was going to step down as soon as they found a new boss.

And now he's been made chief executive! Gary Mills is the new boss.

It's just a blip. The Manchester City players are still fully focused and buying into Pep's philosophy but I think they are going to have to get used to teams coming to the Etihad and playing like Everton did yesterday.

  17. 'Promotion is unrealistic'published at 11:43 British Summer Time 16 October 2016

Huddersfield v Sheffield Wednesday (12:00 BST)

While Huddersfield may have convinced their supporters of their promotion credentials, it doesn't seem like head coach David Wagner is getting carried away by his side's start to the campaign.

The German told BBC Radio Leeds: "We all have to be realistic and it is totally unrealistic that Huddersfield Town will be in the Premier League next season.

"It's possible because it's football and in football anything is possible but if you ask me if it is realistic then I say no."
