  1. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

Middlesbrough get the second half under way.

Some improvement from the first 45 minutes would be nice.

That was a very poor first half. There has been a real lack of quality in both final thirds.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

Boro have had more of the ball in the first half but we only saw one effort on target. Less said about that shot from Alvaro Negredo the better.

Meanwhile, Watford attempted 114 passes, the third lowest in the first half of a Premier League game this season after West Brom v Tottenham (102) and Sunderland v Man City, (107)

Don't think I can stand much more of this.

It can only get better in the second half. It can't continue like this.

  5. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 16 October 2016

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

Referee Roger East blows his whistle for half time.

Plenty of boos ringing round the stadium as he makes his way down the tunnel.

He has had a shocker this afternoon.

The two teams have not fared much better really.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

A long ball is played up field and Watford defender Miguel Britos is climbing all over Middlesbrough's Gaston Ramirez to try and head the ball away.

Referee blows his whistle and gives a free-kick...

    ...to Watford.

Stuie Neale: There is no consistency. West Ham's Aaron Cresswell for example last night never two yellows!

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 43 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

Now Middlesbrough Gaston Ramirez is into the referee's notebook.

The Uruguayan is given a yellow card for an off-the-ball incident on Valon Behrami.

It was nothing more than a little coming together, but Roger East felt it warranted taking action over.

The official has not had a good game, to be honest.

To be honest, if you told me this was a game in the Championship, I wouldn't be surprised. It's at that level at the moment.

A shot on target. I repeat, we have had a shot on target.

Alvaro Negredo need not have bothered though, spinning inside the area and volleying a strike which dribbles into the hands of Heurelho Gomes.

    Barely reached the goalkeeper.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 38 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

Cristhian Stuani wanted a yellow in the last incident but this time is given one of his own after dragging down Roberto Pereyra.

Same as Antonio Barragan on Isaac Success, which was not given a yellow.

    Refereeing consistency, eh?

That reaction from Cristhian Stuani was a joke. No not a joke. It was PATHETIC and I hate it.

Stuani is caught lightly in the face. You would have thought the way he went down, he would have had to go to hospital.

Middlesbrough's Cristhian Stuani is down holding his face after Miguel Britos comes across at left-back.

Stuani is caught in the face, but that reaction is embarrassing from the Uruguayan. He is acting as though Raymond Reddington has sent one of his cronies to do a hit on him.

    Get up lad.

I think that was a yellow card offence. I don't think the first one was but he should have gone!

If he has made a mistake for the first one, he has to get over that and take it on the chin.

Already on a yellow card, Antonio Barragan is now in trouble.

The Spaniard tugs back Isaac Success on the left, with the Nigerian having a clear run in if he was not impeded.

Referee Roger East calls him across. Is he going to reach for his pocket again?

Remarkably, no. It is just a talking to.

One of those incidents where had Barragan not been on a yellow, he would have been given a yellow, but because he is on a yellow, he has not been given a red. Clear? Good.

Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson strides forward and looks to take matters into his own hands.

He cuts across a low strike from around 30-yards out, but gets too much curl on the ball and it drifts just wide of goal.

This game is finally coming to life with goalmouth action in both areas, but neither goalkeeper has yet been stretched.

Silly play from on-loan Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, barging into the back of Watford forward Isaac Success.

The Nigerian was on the touchline, with his back to goal, why make the challenge?

Jose Holebas swings the ball in and Alvaro Negredo almost finds his own net with a powerful header.

Thankfully for the home supporters, it went narrowly over the crossbar.

Holebas's corner is then scrambled away by the hosts.
