  1. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 26 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

Another penalty shout for the home side.

This time the ball goes off both of Nordin Amrabat's hands inside the area, but the Moroccan knew little about it. Another good decision from Roger East.

The ball then falls into the path of Stewart Downing, but the winger drags his shot wide with his weaker right foot.

  2. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 23 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

The home supporters want a penalty after Alvaro Negredo goes down in the box.

The Spaniard had his back to goal and was holding up the ball, with Watford defender Younes Kaboul giving attention behind him.

Negredo took a step to his left and went down, but it would have been a soft decision.

    Huddersfield 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Full-time in West Yorkshire and it is visitors Sheffield Wednesday who earn a narrow 1-0 victory over promotion-chasing Huddersfield Town.

Fernando Forestieri was the match-winner from the penalty spot.

We have seen some really sloppy passing so far. To be honest, we are watching a match between two teams at the lowest reaches of the division.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes comes out to claim a cross.

He immediately hurls the ball to the left towards Isaac Success, who is hauled over by Antonio Barragan.

The Middlesbrough defender is booked by referee Roger East for the infringement, which took place in the Watford half.

The Spaniard knew what he was doing there and a deserved yellow.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

Watford look like they have shaped up in a 5-4-1 formation, with Nordin Amrabat (7) and Jose Holebas (25) acting as wing-backs. Middlesbrough are going to have to work hard and show craft to try and break the backline down.

The home side just cannot get hold of the ball and it keeps slipping away from their feet like a wet bar of soap.

    Very frustrating to watch.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

Middlesbrough earn the first corner of the game which is delivered by Gaston Ramirez but another poor, poor effort which is too long and sails out of play.

A match lacking in quality at the moment.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

Now Boro have a free-kick of their own at the other end as Younes Kaboul, not the brightest of defenders, trips Gaston Ramirez on the run.

Stewart Downing plays the free-kick in to Ramirez on the edge of the box, but the Uruguayan gets his pass wrong and Watford clear.

Just lump it into the box for the big man.

It looks like Watford have a height advantage over Middlesbrough so the last thing they want to be doing is conceding needless free kicks.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Watford

Middlesbrough are putting a few challenges in and George Friend comes across from left-back to the middle of the park and cynically trips Watford's Roberto Pereyra.

The visitors make a hash of the set-piece though, failing to get the ball into the box and giving it away. Walter Mazzarri will be tearing his hair out.

Plenty of empty seats at the Riverside Stadium. Those who are in the ground are making quite a bit of noise.

"Da da da-da, da da daaa da." Pigbag ringing around the stadium.

A good chance for Middlesbrough, but it has been wasted.

The gangly Gaston Ramirez strides forward towards the edge of the box and with only the frame of Heurelho Gomes in front of his eyes, he drags a horribly scuffed shot wide of goal.

Ramirez really should be doing better from there, at least give Gomes something to worry about.

I think tactically, the wide areas are where Middlesbrough will get most of their joy today.

First shot of the game and it comes from Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing, who whips a left-footed shot over the crossbar from George Friend's cross.

Downing once a stalwart in the England international side, winning 35 caps.

    Thirty five caps!

Only a matter of seconds in and Troy Deeney almost gets in for Watford inside the area.

It was a poor headed clearance by midfielder Marten de Roon on the edge of his own box, nodding it backwards and as Deeney was about to pull the trigger, defender Ben Gibson slid across to clear the danger.

    Middlesbrough v Watford (13:30 BST)

    Steve Bower
    Match of the Day commentator

"Both clubs will look at this fixture as a winnable one.

"For Middlesbrough, their form at the Riverside will be pivotal to their chances of remaining in the top flight.

"The fact six of their seven points have come on the road is a bonus, but the sooner the first home win arrives the better.

"They will be wary of Watford's threat, as Walter Mazzarri's team have scored four at West Ham and beat Manchester United at home.

"However, they were out-fought in their last game on the road at Burnley. Any repeat and Boro might get their first home win."
