I wouldn't go as far as saying it is waiting to take off but its not been dull either. 

Its been a decent game of football. Some real quality with two or three decent chances from Southampton and some excellent goalkeeping. I've really enjoyed it. 

Southampton skipper Jose Fonte concedes a free-kick as he tries to nick in ahead of George Boyd.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson clips it into the area, but the Saints defenders manage to get the ball away.

Another save from Tom Heaton, who pushes away Nathan Redmond's stinging drive from inside the area.

The former Norwich man found space after turning Matthew Lowton inside and out.

That is Heaton's 32nd save of the season - more than any other Premier League goalkeeper.

You wouldn't believe, with the number of people Burnley have behind the ball, that Southampton have been able to counter attack like that twice now.

Prior to the last chance, Burnley wanted a penalty after Johann Berg Gudmundsson went down in the box under a Virgil van Dijk challenge, but Mike Dean waved the appeals away.

Again, Burnley are carved open at the back.

Defender Michael Keane gives the ball away in the opposition half and Dusan Tadic whacks it through to Charlie Austin.

The striker is one-on-one with Tom Heaton, who had taken a few steps off his line, and Austin lacks composure as he scuffs a shot two.

Two excellent opportunities for the home side.

Passing moves have not worked so Southampton go long.

Goalkeeper Fraser Forster punts a huge kick up field...

...which puts Dusan Tadic through on goal.

The Serbian, though, cannot get the ball under his spell, he is always battling to keep control and ends up toe-poking a weak shot straight at Tom Heaton.

Alarming how easily Burnley were sliced open there.

It has been a dreary game but Steven Defour is trying his best to liven it up.

The Belgian comes clattering in the back of Nathan Redmond, who had passed the ball off some three-four seconds earlier.

Defour is booked, and quite rightly so.

Half an hour gone, another hour to endure.

Southampton left-back Sam McQueen gets forward for the first time and puts a Bullitt of a cross into the area which Burnley do well to clear.

This game has not got going yet.

Burnley have grown into the game, they are starting to create a few chances.

Defender Michael Keane launches a ball up field, which Wales international Sam Vokes is given time to control and bring down.

He knocks it off to midfielder Jeff Hendrick, around 30 yards out, but the Republic of Ireland man's shot is wild and over the crossbar.

Neat move from Burnley for the first time, as the Clarets look to get a foothold in the game.

Full-back Stephen Ward strides down the left and pops a cross into the box which Sam Vokes flicks towards goal, but it sails wide of Fraser Forster's right-hand post.

Incredible save, absolutely incredible.

We saw one from the top drawer by Joe Hart for England during the week and Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton shows why he is in that Three Lions squad.

A lovely cross is played into the box from the left by Matt Targett and Southampton striker Charlie Austin rises to meet it with his head.

The ball is heading low into the net, but Heaton springs across to push the ball away from goal.

Stunning stop.

Southampton playmaker Dusan Tadic has already got his foot on the ball quite frequently in the opening period.

He is operating in the line across the edge of the Burnley box. The visitors will have to keep an eye on him today.
