Nick in London: It's not Fergie anymore though is it? Liverpool are playing fantastically this season and united are trying to find their feet. Tactics are part of the game.

Chris Crocker: Reality is if Van Gaals team had played like that every 'expert' would be slating him for weeks. Jose does it he is a genius

James: Very satisfying taking two points off Liverpool at home!! I can live with this.. just not at Old Trafford

Freddy in Brighton: Zlatan up front, £90m 'star' in midfield, Mkhitaryan on the bench and Mourinho feeling the happier of the two after a 0-0 draw. That is hilarious!

Dan in Manchester: Tactically spot on by Utd, shows how over rated Liverpool are, didn't have a clue how to break us down.

Jon, London: 0-0 a poor result for both sides. Liverpool were favourites so onus was on them and they didn't do enough. United lack ambition and flair.

Shqiptar: Liverpool fans get a grip, you weren't good enough to break Man Utd down. As simple as that.

Joe Young: Sturridge has to go, doesn't play the Klopp way, has the first touch of a brick wall, absolutely useless

MrDico: That is not a masterclass by Jose! Please! That was sunday league footbal on display! With over 400m? Moyes deserve an apology!

  10. 'More difficult for them'published at 22:26 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

    Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a very difficult game but more difficult for them than us. We kept control of the game for long periods and started really well and were in control.

"David de Gea made good saves but they were isolated from the context, it was under control, we controlled the emotion of ourselves.

"Tactically from a defensive view we did really well. We had big chances, I thought Zlatan was going to score but we missed sharpness through the middle. I was expecting a bit more penetration.

"We did not want to control the ball all of the time. We knew they would press. We know the transition when they lose ball they press high. We had to adapt to the situation, we always thought we would score to win the match but they are a very good team."

  11. 'No one will show this game in 10 years'published at 22:24 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

    Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to MOTD: "I am not frustrated but I am not happy with the performance. No one will show this game in 10 or 20 years but we could have played better.

"It was a hectic game, interrupted here and there but we lost patience with our passing game. The attitude of my team was really good. We were ready to fight but when you can play better you have to.

"The kind of defence is difficult to play. The man marking is really difficult, they are stronger than us. We wasted energy in the first half for nothing, the second half was better and with fresher legs in second half could have created more.

"They had their chance, Ibrahimovic would usually score, but not today. We defended well and fought like you should expect but we can play better and be more patient, cool and calm.

"We get a point. It doesn't feel like the best thing but it is what we got."

  12. 'Permanent disappointment'published at 22:22 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

    Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho on BBC Sport: “It is not the result we wanted but it is a positive result, it is a result that stops a direct opponent getting three points at home so not a bad result.

“The game was difficult for both teams but for longer periods it was more difficult for them than us.

“We controlled the game not just tactically but the emotion of the game, that was probably the quietest Anfield I had and I was expecting it to be the other way.

“I think was a positive performance.

“If you analyse the game see the reason why did it, playing Young and Fellaini. We had control of the game – there were two amazing saves by David de Gea it’s true but they were out of context.

“The reaction from their crowd was permanent disappointment. People expected us to come here and be really in trouble, which we were not.

“The team was always comfortable, we lacked a little bit of sharpness in more attacking positions. There was a moment I thought about playing Rashford in the Pogba position behind Zlatan but then the kid had cramps.

“This is a point that stopped them winning three. Other candidates for the title have easier fixtures at moment and it is important to keep close to them – our opportunity to get five wins in a row will come.”

Michael Owuor: In the grand scheme of things, it's a point gained for United. Wouldn't mind another away point v Chelsea

Dave Carville: We waited 7 games for a clean sheet this season. Thanks JM for having absolutely no ambition to even score a goal

John Glasgow: Toxic Mourinho does not understand football is all about entertainment.

    Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United

This is only the second time in Premier League history a meeting between these sides has finished 0-0 (also September 2005).

Manchester United had just 35% possession vs Liverpool, their lowest total in a Premier League match since Opta began recording this data in 2003-04.

This is Jose Mourinho’s lowest points total after his first eight league games with a new club since his stint with Uniao de Leiria (10 points).

    Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "We didn't play as well as we could have played. We started OK and immediately with their defending we weren't brave anymore, we didn't wait for the right pass. They didn't create chances, maybe two in the second half and De Gea made two or three great saves but in the end our performance was not what it should be. It is a first clean sheet, so yippee.

"We weren't calm enough, that is their style that is OK you need to have respect but be cool. That is not the way we want to play but I accept it we got a point, there are worse things in the world."

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson: "We are frustrated. We didn't play to the level we are capable of. We didn't create many clear cut chances and we could have been a little more decisive.

"We didn't start the game great but we grew into it. I felt we dominated the second half but didn't create that clear cut chance.

"I am not sure if it was nerves but maybe we tried to force it. At the end of the day we kept a clean sheet, they came and did a job."
