Mourinho has got his tactics spot on. They have been strong and resolute.

Young has done well down the left and Sturridge has not had a kick.

It has been intriguing, high intensity but in the final third it has been pretty poor.

United will be the far happier of the two sides.

Realise it's Monday but big games after international break are wasted. Players rarely on top form after travelling around globe.

Peter Campbell: One of the most billed up games of the decade and it's dreadful. Hoping for a far better second half

Paul Walmsley: Has Mourinho patented the 6-3-1 formation by now?

Rob Meech: A £300m team vs a £400m team and the quality is shocking

A poor spectacle. Exactly as Jose Mourinho planned it no doubt.

FIRST BOOKING! Eric Bailly shoves Daniel Sturridge in the back, not much in that really but ref Anthony Taylor decides it's time to get the cards out.

It has been tactical, intriguing, played at a fascinating pace but in terms of quality, in an attacking sense, with all the players on the park, it has been pretty woeful.

    Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United

Strong pressing sees Liverpool win the ball back well in Manchester United's half and that gets Anfield ringing with applause and song. The hosts have had 82% of the play in the last 10 minutes.

More territory and possession from Liverpool now, no penetration though.

Philippe Coutinho has a run on the edge of the area but his low cross is easily dealt with. Jurgen Klopp must be considering a change or two, this is not working.

  16. No help for Sturridgepublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

    Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge (15) isn't having much joy and you can see why if you look at the support he's not getting according to the average position of the two teams.

You can also see how high Paul Pogba (6) is playing for the visitors.

Daniel Sturridge has got to stay between the two centre-halves and let Firmino and Mane make the runs down the side.

I think Liverpool look more fluid when Firmino plays as a false number nine.

    Shots? Chances? Goals?

If it's those you're after you've come to the wrong place. This is what some people would call a 'fascinating chess match.'

    Others would say it's boring.

Liverpool fans can't believe there's not a booking here as first Antonio Valencia and then Ander Herrera commit fouls in midfield. Referee Anthony Taylor has a long conference call with the captains, and keeps his cards in his pockets.
