Dave Smith: As a Liverpool fan I can see Fellaini getting the winner for them with all the negativities from their fans about him

Ian, a Chelsea fan in Whitley Bay: Loving all these Utd fans despairing at the negative team selection. Were they not paying attention when Jose was at the Bridge?! He'll do anything not to lose the big games away from home.

From Chis in Kent: As a Liverpool fan the Man Utd line up concerns me - added pace against us on the wings peg full backs back and Fellani always causes us problems. This Jose chap knows what he's doing!

The draw for the FA Cup first round has been completed - you can get the full script here.

A highlight is the fact that the smallest team left have a home draw - Westfields v York City/Curzon Ashton.

The last time Liverpool won the league...

Liverpool could move level on points at the top of the table with a win tonight - they could go top outright with a 4-0 win - so are they genuine title contenders?

It has been 26 years since Liverpool won the league title. A whole generation of fans have never seen it. Which, if you were born a generation or two earlier, seems ridiculous.

Early 90s fashion. Questionable. Here's Manchester United winning the league in 1993 after a 26-year wait.

But then Manchester United went 26 years of their own without the title before Sir Alex Ferguson delivered the goods in 1993.

And they didn't do bad after that...

Ar vind: Judging by Jose's team selection, United are out to frustrate Liverpool like Burnley did early season.

Abhishek Reddy: Why is Fellaini starting against a team which presses the ball very well... we'll just keep turning over the ball...

Scottish Scouser: re fans' complaints that Fellaini is starting. Ask yourself why 3 United managers (Moyes, Van Gaal, Mourinho) all picked him.

Over on Sky Sports Ryan Giggs - who was assistant manager at Manchester United last season - is showing how they whacked the ball up for Marouane Fellaini to win headers and then play from there.

    Same again?

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 live

It is interesting that Mourinho has sort of reverted to type.

Juan Mata is a little unlucky not to be playing.

United have pace with Young and Rashford but I don't think Mourinho knows his best team.

Jake Saunders: I want to be optimistic for Liverpool tonight but United have this annoying habit of picking up undeserved 0-1s at Anfield...

Asega Martin: Shocked to see well respected football experts criticise every action Mourinho takes, 'the Einesteins' this is a tactical game!!

Peter Malath: I am still in denial with this selection, thinking that Mourinho is fooling us. Young & Fellaini over Mata, Henrik, Martial?

  9. Wagner offering Klopp supportpublished at 19:23 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

Liverpool v Manchester United (20:00 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

Hudderfield Town manager David Wagner - who was Jurgen Klopp's best man and also worked on his staff at Borussia Dortmund - has just arrived in Anfield's new Main Stand to offer his friend support as Liverpool face Manchester United.

I had the pleasure of Mr. Wagner's company when he sat next to me in the press box for Liverpool's memorable 4-3 win against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League quarter-final at Anfield.

Let's just say he has plenty in common with Klopp, not just by doing an outstanding job at his current club but with also his flamboyant goal celebrations - even in the confines of the press box.

United have always been strong in the middle of the park but now Mourinho keeps chopping and changing.

What this line-up does is put Mourinho under massive pressure. If they don't win questions will be asked.

  12. 'A bigger game for United'published at 19:18 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

Liverpool v Manchester United (20:00 BST)

    Danny Murphy
    Former Liverpool midfielder

Even if Liverpool lose, they will still have made a better start to the season than was expected.

It is not the same for United, which is why I think this is actually a bigger game for them.

They have had some mixed results in the league in recent weeks and, if they are beaten at Anfield, they will not just lose ground at the top of the table, they will lose confidence.

People will start doubting them as credible title contenders and, as a player, those doubts can come into your head too.

Kakashi: Fellaini and Young. What does Mourinho have in mind, leaving Mata on the bench?

Mic Medeska: Calling it now: Fellaini only lasts until 70mins and then as always Jose sees he's useless and on comes Rooney. Miss Carrick

Jon Evans: Wonder how many United fans' heads are in their hands right now. Fellaini starting, not a good start to the evening.

  17. United to go long?published at 19:13 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

Liverpool v Manchester United (20:00 BST)

    Robbie Savage

I think we will see United drop back and look to see them get the ball to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Rashford.

I think they will sit back and try and get Liverpool on the counter-attack.

  18. Jose's team selectionpublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

Liverpool v Manchester United (20:00 BST)

Is not going down so well...

If Jose loses he will be blamed for his ridiculously defensive team selection and rightly so.

    David from Marlborough

Sat in A&E waiting for my girlfriend to be seen, United's line up makes me think I'm not the only person missing the game through injury though...

    Liam D

Fellaini and Pogba in the middle, Ashley Young to just ping balls towards Zlatan that's the great Mourinho tactic!!!

  19. Klopp's headlinespublished at 19:10 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

Liverpool v Manchester United (20:00 BST)

Since Jurgen Klopp was appointed as Liverpool manager in October 2015, the Reds have scored more goals than any other Premier League team (73) and have had the highest average possession figure (58.8%).

  20. My memories...published at 19:09 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

Liverpool v Man Utd (20:00 BST)

    Gary Pallister
    Former Man Utd defender

Even as a Middlesbrough player I was aware Manchester United-Liverpool meant so much. Liverpool were always the most successful team in England. Manchester United were always the biggest. It was always tough for the United fans to watch Liverpool dominate the way they did. It is incredible to think a club this size could go 26 years without winning the title, but they did. You were aware of the rivalry. You knew Manchester United would turn it on in the cup matches but when it came to the league games, it was always Liverpool who seemed to be in the ascendancy.
