Ex-Wales midfielder on BBC 5 live

I think it's important that Can plays with the same energy as Wijnaldum.

For me it is a United side set up to stop Liverpool. It is not the most attractive team I have seen.

If I was a United fan I would be a little disappointed.

  2. Team newspublished at 19:08 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

Pace to burn in the Liverpool line up. Emre Can adds some steel to the midfield with his first league start of the season as Adam Lallana misses out. He is on the bench.

Ashley Young starts his first Premier League game since January as he and Marouane Fellaini return. Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata drop out, there's still no place for Wayne Rooney.

Paul Humphreys: I know, let's start 2 men down by starting Felliani and Young when we have Carrick, Mata, Schneiderlin, Mkhyitarian...

David Penn: As a geordie neutral I think Klopp's positivity v Mourinho's perceived negativity is key: desire to win making it Liverpool 2-1

Steve SimmonS: Big, big game tonight. Pressure must be on #LFC. Mourinho and Pog need to earn their money.

The Anthony Taylor situation is such a non story.

Referees in this country are NOT corrupt. They may not be very good at their job but they aren't corrupt.

  12. Time for Pogba?published at 18:54 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

Liverpool v Manchester United (20:00 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

Manchester United's meeting with Liverpool is a game made for an £89m midfield player - so will Paul Pogba hit top form when Manchester United need him most?

The French star has been indifferent since his world record move from Juventus but this is the perfect stage for him to make his mark.

Liverpool will attempt to impose their high-intensity pressing game on United but remember Jose Mourinho's visit to Anfield with Chelsea in April 2014?

He recognised that disturbing Liverpool's rhythm was so vital he was even refusing to return the ball for a throw-in inside the first five minutes.

Chelsea won 2-0 and it was the game where Liverpool stumbled and lost the title virtually on the finishing line.

Will Mourinho want to break it up again tonight?

    Trevor Sinclair

Saido Mane is the closest thing Liverpool have had to replacing Luis Suarez.

He is cheeky, brave on the ball, won’t shirk responsibility in creating something and Liverpool are just so exciting going forward. I don’t see Manchester United coping with them.

  16. 'Mane can score a goal out of nothing'published at 18:48 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

Liverpool v Manchester United (20:00 BST)

    Dion Dublin
Former Leicester and Man Utd forward on Football Focus

Sadio Mane suits Liverpool's style going forward and can score a goal out of nothing. His positional sense is great. Maybe he could do a bit more defensively, but whether he's asked to do that I don't know. I think he does need to do a bit, though, because if he works harder he'll get luckier. He's certainly a really hard to player to play against. Liverpool's players are all sharing the load with the goals, they are all chipping in.
