The only shot on goal so far was Zlatan's 40-yard free-kick miles over the bar. Manchester United put together a spell of play though despite the intense pressure and Paul Pogba smacks another long-range effort well over the top.

Much has been made of Liverpool's weakness at defending set-pieces and they don't look too sure as Ashley Young pumps a free-kick into the middle, but Marouane Fellaini is offside.

Matip and Lovren are splitting from the goal kicks but United are not letting Liverpool play out.

They are forcing Karius to kick long and that should suit United with Bailly and Fellaini in their side.

A few tackles still coming in as Sadio Mane catches his man late, Philippe Coutinho of all people then slides in to strip Antonio Valencia of possession and a cross in is well cleared.

That sliding tackle got Anfield roaring though. Jurgen Klopp loved it.

The referee is being a bit lenient with both sets of players.

He is letting the game flow.

Manchester United have a free-kick maybe 40 yards from goal and Zlatan Ibrahimovic lines it up - and then smashes it into the top third of the Kop!

    Well over.

Much has been made of the decision to award this game to referee Anthony Taylor, who is from the Manchester area, and Liverpool's fans made their displeasure clear in colourful terms when he failed to book Marcus Rashford for an early foul on James Milner.

Marcus Rashford skips past Dejan Lovren to motor into the box but he runs out of turf and the ball goes dead, at the other end Sadio Mane also plays it clean out of play. Jitters.

Could James Milner win his place back in the England set-up as a left-back? He has been superb this season out there. Daniel Sturridge's first aerial challenge sees him easily beaten by Eric Bailly.

Whack! Have some of that. Marcus Rashford clatters James Milner late, ref Anthony Taylor has his first action but he doesn't book the youngster.

Milner gives him a threatening gesture.

  19. Fellaini to threaten from set-piecespublished at 19:58 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

Liverpool v Manchester United (20:00 BST)

    Kevin Kilbane
Former Everton and Sunderland winger and MOTD2 pundit

I had a feeling Manchester United would play Marouane Fellaini tonight. Set-pieces are going to be massive - that is definitely one of the ways United are going to threaten.

Liverpool have been vulnerable from them recently, and their new goalkeeper Loris Karius has been a bit hesitant to come for crosses.

You can hear more from Kevin on MOTD2 at 22:45 BST on BBC One and the BBC Sport website (23:15-00:15, BBC One NI & BBC Two Wales).
