  2. 'Reds fans will start to believe'published at 18:42 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

Liverpool v Manchester United (20:00 BST)

Liverpool have already gone to Arsenal and Chelsea and won this season, and drawn at Tottenham too. If they can get a positive result tonight, then Reds supporters will really start to believe they have a chance of winning the title.

Not many people thought that at the start of the season, but if you win these big games - like Tottenham did against Manchester City before the international break - then they start to take notice.

Liverpool's home form will be a factor in that too, and that has already shown signs of improvement.

Last season they got some great results on the road under Klopp but struggled when teams came to Anfield and put men behind the ball.

That has not been the case this time around - they have scored nine goals in two games at home so far.

  6. Scholes would bet on Liverpoolpublished at 18:35 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

Liverpool v Manchester United (20:00 BST)

Manchester United lack "identity" under new manager Jose Mourinho, making Liverpool favourites tonight, says Old Trafford legend Paul Scholes.

United, seventh in the table, go to Anfield three points behind Liverpool.

Scholes says there is still "confusion" over Mourinho's best side, whereas Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has "stamped his way of playing football" on his team.

"If you were betting, you would be betting on Liverpool," he said.

A brief history of the rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United that has run for more than 120 years, from the opening of the Ship Canal, through the Merseybeat & Madchester music scenes and on to two of the game's most influential managers.

    Gary Pallister
    Former Man Utd defender

It is two cities who aren't exactly the best of friends. Liverpool are playing really well and Jose Mourinho is trying to mould a team together that is capable of winning titles. Maybe Liverpool go into it as slight favourites given the momentum they have and the goals they have in their team. I am quite hopeful United can produce a performance and a result.

    Dion Dublin
Former Leicester and Man Utd forward on Football Focus

I think if Manchester United try to park the bus against Liverpool they will come a cropper. Liverpool are just too good going forward. United aren't exactly watertight at the back either. For me United have to go for it. When you go into games like this a lot of it goes out the window, it's all about bragging rights, pride, one-to-one battles. It's important that doesn't spill over, though.

Liverpool v Manchester United (20:00 BST)

How will Jose Mourinho set up his side at Anfield tonight? Mourinho has often been the master of the away game in these big meetings - his sides have a habit of grinding out a result.

We all remember when a Mourinho side went to Anfield, sat back, allowed Liverpool 26 shots and somehow managed to win 2-0. Steven Gerrard slipped over of course...

But this Liverpool side can blow you away if you're not careful.

    Just ask Arsenal or Chelsea...
