  1. City burst into lifepublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    Manchester City 1-1 Celtic

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Etihad Stadium

Manchester City had been a complete mess - but they burst into life with that great strike from Iheanacho.

Celtic will be doubly disappointed because they had started so well. Hasn't silenced the Celtic fans. They are still filling Etihad Stadium with noise.

    Basel 0-1 Arsenal

A warning for the Gunners, who are caught napping by Matias Delgado. The Basel skipper runs beyond and gets in a header that forces a save from a flying David Ospina. The flag goes up, but Ospina was not to know.

  3. CLOSE!published at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    Manchester City 1-1 Celtic

What a game this is! Both sides have a gentleman's agreement to forget defending for the night as Nolito plays a pass through a ridiculously high-lined Celtic defence, Pablo Zabaleta bursts through, well as much of a burst as he can these days.

He finds Kelechi Ihenacho with a square ball, the Nigerian goes for a first-time shot and it squirts wide.

    Strong hints of both, Femi.

  6. goal

GOAL - Basel 0-1 Arsenalpublished at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    Lucas Perez (8 mins)

Arsenal lead, and it's a picturebook goal. A classic Arsenal goal in many ways as Alexis Sanchez picks out a pass over the top to find Kieran Gibbs, onside and on the left of the area. His touch is immaculate, and he squares for Lucas Perez who almost apologetically taps into the net. Easy as you like.

Paul Charles: Fantastic high-tempo start from Celtic and a well deserved goal as a reward.

Rob Bown: I'm sorry, but I don't see Pep's tactic working. Unfamiliar team today playing something that needs high coordination. Wrong.

Spoke too soon there maybe Rob...

This could be a cracker. That's almost the first time Man City have been in the last third. And what a finish.

    Kelechi Iheanacho (8 mins)

That's a cracking goal as this mismatch of a game promises to be a bit of a cult classic. Nolito plays a ball through, Kelechi Iheanacho is onside and lashes high and hard into the net!

The result may not matter tonight but Pep Guardiola is not a happy man. He's already given John Stones a mouthful for warming up in the wrong place. Ticking.

    Basel 0-0 Arsenal

Scrappy so far on a misty, freezing night in Switzerland. Arsene Wenger's coat is long, but not quilted. Questionable. A Mesut Ozil corner for the black and yellow Gunners is cleared by the head of an all-white host.

City's start has been hopeless. No one looks like they're up for it. They are being bullied out this game already by Celtic.

    Patrick Roberts (4 mins)

Totally deserved. Manchester City have been a mess in the opening stages and they shoot themselves in the foot right at the start!

Goalkeeper Willy Caballero pings the ball out to the left, it's cut out and Patrick Roberts - on loan from City! - takes full advantage.

He breaks into the area, skips inside a half-hearted challenge and thrashes home low and hard. Wonderfully taken.

I think there might be an injury already. Tosin Adarabioyo looks to be limping. We'll keep an eye on that. He's moving gingerly.

Sloppy at the back from City as they give the ball away, Willy Caballero comes flying out and just about clears before Tom Rogic has a shot blocked! Chaos back there.

  16. 'A chance for the visitors'published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    Manchester City 0-0 Celtic

    Tom English
    BBC Sport Scotland

Manchester City began the season in barnstorming form, winning the first 10 and looking like a formidable force under Pep Guardiola. Celtic halted that run with the 3-3 draw at Parkhead. City, far from being invincible, have won only four times in their last 13 matches and have kept just one clean sheet.

Can Celtic get something and finish off the group stage in decent heart? It's possible. City's line-up has no Aguero, no Sterling, no De Brunei, no Silva. There's a chance here for the visitors. A small one, perhaps. But a chance none the less.

What they're looking for tonight is a performance that shows that they have matured and are getting better on the biggest stage.

Celtic are on an extraordinary run of form in Scotland. They will come into this not lacking confidence. City, who have made so many changes, won't get this easy.
