No way the referee can see that - but it's the assistant right beside him who can see it. He must see that. How the assistant referee did not see that is a joke. It was both arms from Clichy and on the line - that's a penalty kick. Hopeless.

Breathless stuff. Very good watch.

Have Celtic rode out the storm? Manchester City haven't made all that ball count in the past 10 minutes...

Patrick Roberts is having a very lively showing against his parent club, he ties Gale Clichy into a knot and the Frenchman then reaches out and drags him back, inside the area.
A penalty? Nothing given...

Dead rubber defending from Laurent Koscielny as he steps out of the way of Renato Steffen's swerving shot, David Ospina makes a good save and then an even better one, stretching to pouch the bouncing ball before massive striker Marc Janko can get there.

Derek Duffy: Brendan Rodgers easily best thing to happen to Celtic in a decade. Playing best football since O'Neill and Larsson.
High praise indeed!
Things have gone from bad to worse for Besiktas... and then they've deteriorated a little bit further again.
Needing a positive result at Dynamo Kiev, the Turks are now 3-0 down after half an hour, with Vitaly Buyalskiy and Andriy Yarmolenko scoring within two minutes of each other.
Benfica and Napoli will progress if things stay the same, meaning their match in Portugal will decide who wins the group - we're all square there for the moment.

Celtic were outpassing Manchester City but in the last few minutes they have hardly had a kick. Up until now, Celtic weren't letting City play. City have began to dominate and have complete control of the ball and the game.
City have only just overtaken the visitors in the 'passes made' column. The home side have made 234 passes, with Celtic on 189.

Manchester City really beginning to take a firm grip of the game now, bossing possession. Bacary Sagna's cross is flicked on by Kelechi Iheanacho and Craig Gordon makes a really decent save, getting down quickly to push it clear.

Dr Damian Fogarty: Can't see point of worrying about drawing Bayern or whoever. Arsenal could do with the psychological boost of winning the group.
Mat VP: Why are people bothered about Bayern? They aren't even dominating Germany and they are 2nd for a reason I say bring it on!!
That's more like it gentlemen!
Basel 0-2 Arsenal
Since that Alexis Sanchez chance Arsenal have barely had a touch as Basel look for a goal to get themselves back into the game. Their Europa League prospects look slim to none - and slim is close to leaving town.

I thought Leroy Sane had proved that he's not a wing-back at the weekend. Like asking Neymar to track back.

Leroy Sane has had to come back and mark Patrick Roberts. Sane wants to be further forward but is having to drop deeper defensively. He won't be happy with that.

Pep Guardiola - wearing a very casual pair of black and white plimsolls - has been like a cat on hot bricks in his technical area. Not happy at all.
Celtic counterpart Brendan Rodgers, in contrast, is relaxed with his hands in his pockets. He seems satisfied enough.
The game has calmed down a little now after a manic opening.
Image source, PABayern Munich can't dislodge Atletico Madrid from the top of Group D, but that isn't stopping them from giving tonight's match between the two their full attention.
Robert Lewandowski has struck first blood at the Allianz Arena, with nothing bar Atletico's 100% record in the group on the line.

Tom Rogic slashes a shot well wide from range as Celtic continue to look very neat and tidy on the ball. If there's any Celtic fans reading tonight, what are your thoughts on Brendan Rodgers and his spell in charge so far?

Arsenal are in the mood tonight. They are playing well in freezing temperatures. And it looks good for them with Ludogorets doing them a favour by leading in Paris.
